Recycling Program
UNIQLO wants to maximize the use of clothing that our customers no longer wear. We collect clothing from customers at UNIQLO and GU stores, and working with the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) and other NGOs and partners, we distribute the wearable items to refugees, disaster victims and others in need worldwide. Clothing that is deemed unwearable is recycled into refuse paper and plastic fuel (RPF) pellets for fuel.

UNIQLO’s success depends on the wellbeing of a global web of relationships. Our world currently faces critical social issues such as poverty, refugee crisis, racial discrimination, terrorism, and regional conflicts. UNIQLO has partnered with the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) to create innovative solutions to support refugees and tackle such intractable challenges.
Next Generation Leadership
Empowering youth to change the world
Clothes have the power to cultivate leaders who will inherit our future. In UNIQLO’s Power of Clothing Project and Student Work Experience Program, youth gain knowledge and skills required to act as global citizens through activities related to clothing. UNIQLO has also established a fund to offer scholarships so talented youth can access world-class educational opportunities.
Sports and Culture
Sports and art enrich our everyday life. In partnership with local sports teams, museums, and other organizations, UNIQLO aims to create a nurturing environment for youth to foster appreciation for clothes and fashion.
Setouchi Olive Foundation
Stewarding the natural beauty of Japan
UNIQLO believes that the abundant nature of Japan should be stewarded for future generations. UNIQLO Japan established the "Setouchi Olive Fund" to protect and restore the beautiful natural environment of Teshima Island and Seto Inland Sea through fundraising and employee volunteering.
Emergency Disaster Relief
Hope for survivors in need
UNIQLO utilizes our national store network to provide clothing and financial support during natural disasters. 3.3 billion yen was donated to the Great East Japan Earthquake and Tsunami in 2011. In the following year, we established the Recovery Assistance Project which supported NGOs and opened stores in affected areas. We provide emergency disaster relief to affected areas around the world, such as Hurricane Sandy in the U.S. (2012), Sichuan Earthquake in China, Typhoon Haiyan in the Philippines (2013), and the Eastern Taiwan Earthquake (2018).
