Not Flannel. Fits like a Tent. Ugly Collar.

If you're a fan of Uniqlo's solid color flannel shirts for women, look elsewhere. Last year I complained to Uniqlo about NOT offering solid colored flannel shirts to women as they had for years previously (interesting that they had still offered the solid colors to the men, though...huh, how about that?). My point being, I loved that Uniqlo had once offered warm, well-fitted flannel shirts that washed well, didn't shrink or wrinkle, and didn't scream "hey, it's fall, look at my LOUD plaid shirt!" I could even get away with wearing them to work since the solid color gave them an elevated appearance -- unlike the plaid patterns that make them a dead giveaway for "weekend" shirt. This year, Uniqlo messed with the standard cut and fabric, adding in rayon, and tried to pass them off as the tried-and-true version. Guess what, the rayon makes the material feel COLD against the skin. I want 100% cotton flannel because it's warm, so in one fell swoop Uniqlo just defeated the entire purpose of the flannel shirt. Add on to that the new style...it's wide on the top and even wider on the bottom. So the bottom tents out, and has a longer hem in the back. Guessing it's designed for people wearing leggings? But if you're not, it just looks dumpy. And even worse, they took away the normal button front shirt collar and made it a permanent V-neck by removing two buttons (a skipper collar, they call it). Very cheap, it just looks like they're shaving off costs by saving a couple buttons per shirt. If I want to have an open neck, I'll just leave the buttons undone, thank you. Such a disappointment, since the solid flannels were my go-to shirts for the fall/winter/spring because they didn't LOOK like flannel shirts, but they were warm and structured (and NO IRONING needed!). The original styling was slimming, just the right length if untucked, and you could size up or down depending on how much room you wanted. Please go back to the old-style flannel shirts in solid colors, Uniqlo. Sometimes people just want quality basics, not trendy styles that only last one season.
