In June 2023, seven Fast Retailing employees visited the Republic of Uganda, located in eastern Africa. The purpose of the event, with the cooperation of the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR), with which Fast Retailing has a global partnership, was to visit the Bidibidi refugee settlement in northern Uganda to provide support to refugees, and to distribute recycled clothing donated by our customers. It takes about 24 hours one way from Japan to Uganda, which is blessed with a natural environment so beautiful it is called the "Pearl of Africa." Uganda accepts about 1.5 million refugees with compassion and tolerance, making it the world's sixth largest refugee-receiving country.
