A STORY OF GORDON REID
CHALLENGE AND CHANGE THE WORLD

"You may be in a wheelchair, but you can do anything. It doesn't change anything about how you live. You are in charge of changing your own future." At one charity event, he shared these words with children in wheelchairs. In 2017, we welcomed our second wheelchair tennis player as GLOBAL BRAND AMBASSADOR. His name is Gordon Reid. Gordon was struck down with a rare condition called Transverse Myelitis at the age of 12, and became paralyzed from the waist down and was confined to using a wheelchair. Gordon had played tennis since the age of 6 but after his illness he started playing wheelchair tennis, having to make the adjustments to his game and also learn to maneuver the chair around the court. In 2007, Gordon became the youngest Britain's Champion at the age of 15. He won the Australian Open and Wimbledon in 2016, followed by a Gold Medal at the Rio Paralympic Games. Later that year he was honored with an MBE (Member of the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire) and ended the year as world No.1 for the first time in his career. Together with UNIQLO Gordon works actively to give back to society. Never without a smile, he shows children around the world how to overcome adversity without losing hope. He is the perfect partner for UNIQLO, a company that outlines the importance of diversity and respect for indivisual lives.
