Mariko Kakizaki. Born in 1988 in Kagawa Prefecture. Contemporary dancer. Height 165 cm. Launching her career while a student at the University of Tsukuba, Mariko went on to join Israel’s lively Batsheva Dance Company. Since giving birth to her first child in 2021, she has remained vigorously active, staging exciting dance performances that blend live music and fine art.

Hanna’s mother is the model Karen Kirishima, and her father is photographer Yoshihiko Ueda. Graduating from Parsons School of Design, she worked on set for a Hollywood film production before going freelance. She sees art as a platform for social change and is the founder of the creative group Fauve.

We Were Friends, Seriously (Kobunsha, 2022), Mariko’s first work of fiction in four years, has garnered rave reviews, while her next novel, commissioned by Magazine House, is forthcoming.

Born in 1987 in Kanagawa Prefecture. Film Director. Height 157 cm. After studying under film director Hirokazu Kore-eda, Megumi made her directorial debut in the 2018 omnibus film Ten Years Japan. She is one of three young directors taking up the megaphone for episodes of The Makanai: Cooking for the Maiko House, a drama set to premiere worldwide on Netflix in 2022, with Kore-eda as the showrunner.

Born in 1980 in Wrocław, Poland, Ewelina has lived in Japan for six years. Height 176 cm. A visual artist, she explores themes of body and gender through printmaking, drawings, and ceramics. Her work has been exhibited in Japan as well as the US, the UK, and Canada. In 2021, she co-founded ONA project room, an initiative that aims to support female artists.

Born in 1992 in Sydney. Shioli came to Japan at age fourteen to pursue her dream of acting. In 2016, she had a breakout role in While the Women Are Sleeping, directed by Wayne Wang, and has since appeared in the Hollywood films Deadpool 2 and The Outsider. A member of the main cast of the Apple TV+ drama Invasion, Shioli features in the Netflix drama Sanctuary, scheduled to premiere worldwide.
