In the spirit of this kind of conversation, here’s a batch of fifteen topics drawn from this year’s Fall & Winter collection.

Topic 01

Light-hearted Classics

“It looks that way, but check this out...” How great is it when clothes are more than meets the eye? Our new Utility Jacket, with genuine corduroy at the collar and the cuffs, may look heavy-duty, but the fabric is actually jersey knit. Raglan sleeves give the shoulders plenty of room. The Over Shirt Jacket, in black watch plaid, also has a rugged look, but it’s actually quite light. All-around comfort, without the scratchiness.

Topic 02

Herringbone Days

When heading to your favourite restaurant, understated classics are ideal. This herringbone jacket has the expressiveness of tweed, but the stretchy jersey fabric gives it the comfort of a cardigan. While the unisex Balmacaan Coat does have a nice heft, much like wool, the fabric is smooth and soft, not even remotely stiff. The raglan sleeves and big silhouette are a mood.

Crazy for Fall

On clear autumn days, a flannel in a crazy plaid design feels great tossed on over a plain white T-shirt. Mixing different tartans and buffalo plaids, each shirt has an asymmetrical arrangement of classic fall and winter patterns, down to the pockets and the cuffs. These patterns might look a little crazy, but the monochromatic colourways keep things under control. We’ve also made sizes for kids, so that the whole family can go crazy.

Two Great Lengths

These classy double face coats come in two different lengths. The Chester Long Coat has a sloping profile, thanks to the ample drop shoulders. Soft and springy fabric gives the sleeves and body a structured, elegant drape. The shorter coat stands out for the bold modern patterning of the sleeves. This collarless coat can also be buttoned at the front like a poncho. Worn over a camel brown or forest green turtleneck, it’s picture-perfect autumn style.

A Handle on Things

There’s a reason why some items look stylish from every angle. The grained surface of the bag is smooth and sleek, while the edges are all finished by hand. Compact but with enough room for a long wallet, cell phone, pouch and collapsible umbrella the dual compartments of the accordion design make it easy to stay organized. The adjustable shoulder strap can be detached.

Choose Your Chino Pants

Depending on the cut, chinos can look and feel completely different. Our roomy Regular Chino, while adjusted slightly every season, is the orthodox look. The 100% cotton “West Point” style twill has a refined gloss and a supple feel that takes on character with age. The Slim Fit chinos at the centre are a sharp choice. A stretchy waistband takes pressure off the hips, while a tapered styling from the knee down gives these pants a clean profile. The Skinny Fit chinos on the right have a 2Way stretch that gives in multiple dimensions. This frees up the knees and makes the legs look slender. You can switch it up with different silhouettes, depending on your outfit, the occasion, or your mood.

Prep It Up a Notch

A button-down shirt with authentic chinos and a pair of penny loafers . . . the only thing missing is a preppy belt. Combining leather that softens over time with stretchy, sturdy webbing, these belts come in red, green or grey stripes, calling to mind a ribbon belt. A great way to add a bit of fun to the basics.

Cozy Outdoor Vibes

Heading for the great outdoors? Don’t forget your fleece. This season’s new fleece zip-up vest has shallow V-neck styling. The piping on the fluffy high pile fleece looks smart on any terrain. The fleece jacket has an ultrathin windproof film layer, to keep you cozy on those chilly nights and mornings. It blocks out the wind and holds in the heat, all with a soft and furry feel. The zipper pocket on the left chest is a nice touch.

Sporty Strolls

Going for a walk? A comfy sweatsuit is the best. Made from soft breathable fabric, this hoodie stands out for its deep side slits. Layering with a waffle T-shirt gives it depth, so that it flutters pleasantly with every step. The pants have tidy elastic ankles. Try tucking them into your socks for a cool new look.

Strong Cable Game

When the fall winds start to blow, it’s time for an Aran sweater. A special blend of acrylic, polyester, nylon and wool gives this cable-knit crew neck volume and expressiveness, but with a lightweight fit. The modern silhouette is on the slimmer side. Resilient nylon fibres resist stretching, even after extensive wear.

Topic 11

This Little Bag Went to Market

From our collaboration with Ines de la Fressange, these bags are perfect for a quick trip to the grocery store or some light shopping. The stoles come in brilliant tones that strike a nice contrast against the foliage of a treelined street. Wrap one casually around the neck, and you’re in fall mode. Eco bags available in plaid and floral prints. The handles are long enough to sling over the shoulder, while ties allow for easy closure. Fits in well with a trad outfit.

Sneak into Fall

Beiges and greys look great against the autumn landscape. Our new lace-up sneakers utilize a smooth faux suede. Because they’re waterproof, no need to fret if raindrops start to fall. The foxing tape of the sidewalls is the same colour as the rest, keeping things chic. Meanwhile, the knit model has an incredibly light mesh upper. These cushiony shoes fit close to the foot, while the insole is antimicrobial and deodorizing.

Low Gauge, Long Sock

New from Uniqlo U, these low gauge socks work great with classic fall and winter styles like a herringbone coat or Aran sweater. They have just the right thickness and nap, while the ribbing is not too constrictive, giving them a charming, relaxed quality. The calf-length height is key. Burgundy and charcoal grey (women’s only) are perfect for late fall.

Your Fluffiest Fan

When playing sports, having a nice towel close at hand is a gamechanger. This new item uses a core spun yarn, in which a polyester core is wrapped with high-quality cotton, giving it both a fluffy texture and quick-drying properties. While the canvas of the Tool Tote Bag has a natural feel, the fabric incorporates a thin film, making it water-resistant. As simple as these two may be, they’re also highly functional.

On active days, reach for our stretchy fleece jacket, developed with the help of athletes. The body uses two different kinds of fleece, enabling a better fit and a full range of motion. Areas prone to stuffiness like the chest and lower back use a moisture-wicking grid fleece to prevent overheating when you sweat in wintertime. Works great as a jacket in spring and autumn and is perfect as a middle layer on bitterly cold winter days.
