Flowers in a Stone Frame opening onto a Landscape
Ambrosius BOSSCHAERT
The only painting by Ambrosius Bosschaert to be signed, perhaps even in his own hand, in full lettering on the back and one of the five unique Bouquets painted on a landscape background by this artist, this Bouquet is a masterpiece of 17th century flower painting, both scholarly and symbolic, which delicately reminds us of the ephemeral nature of existence and its fragility.
