1. Center Court at the Palais Garnier
Roger kicks off his Paris leg with a trip to the Palais Garnier, centre court for the Paris ballet. Once there, he meets world-renowned dance director José Martinez, and Léonore Baulac, one of the company’s principal dancers. In a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity, Roger gets the opportunity to draw parallels between tennis and ballet in seeing how these incredible athletes rehearse.
2. Fête le Mur: Where the Idea of Tennis Runs Deep
Roger heads to the suburbs of La Courneuve, for a game and a chat with the neighbourhood’s local tennis players at Fête le Mur, a tennis complex created by tennis icon Yannick Noah. To celebrate and support the community, UNIQLO refurbished the neighbourhood tennis court, complete with its unique surface artwork by artist Caroline Derveaux. After running through some tennis basics—closed stance, open stance, and a two-handed backhand—Roger sits down and listens to the stories of what brought these young women to the court and what it took to get there.
3. Let the Beat Drop: A meet-up with DJ Bob Sinclar
Roger pays a visit to his old friend, international legend and DJ extraordinaire: Bob Sinclar. Once there, Roger steps up to the mic to narrate one of his most famous tennis moments — his 2009 Roland Garros win for the French Open. The crowd goes wild.
