This story showcases how eight fashionable individuals styled in Uniqlo U.

Headquartered in Paris, l’étiquette is a men’s fashion magazine published twice a year, in French and English versions. Eight issues have been published to date. Interpreting the elements of traditional menswear with a Parisian flair, it’s known for its inspirited styling.

Titouan Meillarec

Product Director, J.M. WESTON

A resident of Paris for the past eight years, Titouan works as a marketing professional at J.M. WESTON, the legendary French shoe brand. “We’re not interested in chasing trends, but in the stories behind traditions and fashions. What resonates for me about l’étiquette is how much it values the context of craftsmanship.”

Jonathan Barban

Fashion Designer

“My journalist friend Gino has been working with the chief editor of l’étiquette, Marc Beaugé, for ages. Through him, Mark and I have gotten pretty close,” says Jonathan. He’s also an acquaintance of Christophe Lemaire, artistic director of Uniqlo U, having gained experience as a designer under him in the past. “Christophe used to be my boss. I’m a big fan of Uniqlo U and wear it all the time.”

Emma Kerzerho

Student

Brittany is a place of untouched natural beauty :the sea is always close at hand. It’s where Emma was born, and where she lives today. This year she’s graduating from university. “I want to be an elementary school teacher,” she says, adding that her hobby is embroidering clothes for friends at home and in Paris. “Right now, I’m interested in sewing by hand and sashiko. Someday I’d love to study the painstaking repair techniques used in Japan.”

Fabien Merdinian

Costume Designer for Movies

Working for twelve years at esteemed Parisian shop Colette, which closed in 2017, Fabien changed gears two years ago and became a costume designer for film. A lover of vintage goods, he’s rarely found without this film camera, a present from his brother-in-law. “I’ve been using it for three years now to photograph my friends and family. I’ve got ten other cameras too. My dad’s who got me into cameras, They’re an essential aspect of my style.”

  • Over his top, Fabien wears a shirt-style jacket made from high-quality wool. The roomy cut fits him just right.

  • Fabien says the V neck sweater, one of this season’s staples, is “extremely comfortable.” Made from quality lambswool, in a gorgeous fine-gauge ribbed knit.

  • Fabien says at least 80% of his pants are chinos. He feels at home in UNIQLO and likes the wide leg and easy fit of this pair.

Sofia Nebiolo

Fashion Consultant,
Co-Editor-in-Chief of The Skirt Chronicles

Co-founder of Great Consulting, an agency which focuses on trend and cultural research, strategic marketing and production, Sofia is also co-editor-in-chief and co-founder of Paris-based publication The Skirt Chronicles which explores literature, fashion, culture and beyond through photography and the written word. In her words, “The work I like to do always has a connection to culture and community. Building bridges between different countries and their unique creative fields creates exciting new connections based on old traditions.”

Louis de Caunes & Fallon Castella

Photographer & Stylist

Louis works as a photographer in Paris, while Fallon is a stylist for fashion magazines and advertising. Huge fans of contemporary art, this creative duo likes to spend their days off walking their dog to different thrift stores. “I bought this bandana at a thrift store. I never leave the house without one tied around my neck,” says Fallon. To which Louis responds, “After thrifting, we go to a cafe. As long as our dog Blondie is there with us, it’s a perfect holiday.”

Julien Milla

Technical Director

During the week, Julien works as a director at an architectural firm in Paris. On the weekends, though, this doting parent brings his two-year-old and nine-month-old sons to the park and indulges his love of clothing. “What makes the button-down so great? How was the polo shirt invented? My friends at l’étiquette and I can discuss fashion history deep into the night. We share the same values. They’re such an important presence in my life.”
