Teshima Island, was the site of one of the nation’s worst illegal industrial dumping scandals. Since 2001, UNIQLO has supported the Setouchi Olive Foundation's efforts by collecting donations through its stores and conducting employee volunteer activities. The ultimate goal is to plant one million trees.

The Setouchi Olive Foundation is a nonprofit organization that is dedicated to supporting the efforts of groups to protect and restore the natural environment of the coastal areas and islands of the Seto Inland Sea. The foundation was established in 2000 by renowned architect Tadao Ando and lawyer Kohei Nakabo. UNIQLO supports the efforts of the foundation through donations, which are collected via donation boxes in UNIQLO stores.
