UNIQLO GIVES BACK
Haribon Foundation Nursery Visit in Tanay, Rizal
As part of UNIQLO's celebration of their 2024 Spring-Summer Thank You Festival, over 40 staff have gathered to volunteer their time to visit Haribon Foundation's nursery site located in Brgy. Sto. Nino, Tanay, Rizal. The nursery is where crops are cultivated before they are transferred to their final planting areas in the mountain ranges. Here staff have experienced the step-by-step care of the seedlings, as well as connected with the community members who care for Haribon's sites located in the Sierra Madre mountain ranges.
About the partnership
As part of UNIQLO's efforts to conserve paper, customers are encouraged to bring their own reusable bags whenever they shop in our stores.
Should they wish to avail of paper bags, there would be a Php 2 fee per bag purchased. These proceeds go towards Haribon Foundation's forest conservation efforts.
Supporting the Forests for Life Movement, this funds the planting and care of the seedlings in their different Key Biodiversity Areas in the country, as well as the livelihood of the partner organizations who take care of them.
Inaugural tree planting
With UNIQLO's first round of donations, Haribon is able to plant over 5,000 seedlings in their conservation site located in Mts. Banahaw-San Cristobal Protected Landscape. The first planting entailed the planting of 1,250 seedlings done by their partner organization, the San Cristobal Farmers Association.
