About LifeWear magazine Issue 15

Every town is full of stories.

UNIQLO, whose story began in a small town in Japan, has now opened stores in 26 countries and regions that welcome countless people daily. A gathering of voices is how clothing is created. Clothes are the products of a city’s way of life.

Styles come about wherever people come together. What gives them definition are the rhythms and shapes of the city itself. Neatly organized streets will yield a minimalist look. In classic atmospheres, accent colors give preppy styles a modern mood. Clothes with outdoorsy roots can vastly broaden a city wardrobe if you pair them with chic urban items.

This issue offers a glimpse of cities all over the world, from New York and Seoul to Berlin, Paris, London, and urban Hokkaido, focusing on the styles of the people who live there. Viewed collectively, it’s clear that basic items suited for the times can fit in anywhere. That’s why UNIQLO puts so much stock in the idea of “Today’s Classics.” The hope is for these clothes to get a good amount of use by a whole lot of people. We’re always listening to cities as we continue to create the latest LifeWear.

The cover illustration was made especially for this issue by Paris-based artist Philippe Weisbecker. Its inspiration was the women’s low gauge cable crewneck sweater (RM 149.90), new this season.
