Life can come in all kinds of weather, sunshine, rain, downpour, and the freezing cold, too. But even in those cold, damp days, you can find a distinctive beauty different from those sunny days. Even on that miserably sad day, there is a glimmer of hope called ‘tomorrow.’

On their flight from Paris to New York, Asha shared an episode she heard as a little girl from her father to her fellow passenger, Hayley.

During the long flight, Hayley slowly began to open up about her life to Asha.

Hayley was an editor for a well-known female magazine when one day, she decided to write a love letter to an author who lived in Paris. A reply came promptly where the author praised Hayley for her fine writing skills and that she should consider coming to Paris to become an author. With her dream intact, she moved to Paris, fell in love with her idol author, and began a life with him in the city of love. That was five years ago.

In Paris, Hayley began to write a story that illustrated the essential skills for women in the future. This became a worldwide best-seller.

When Asha heard the title of the book, she discovered that she was also a reader. It suddenly became so bizzare that a globally-successful author is sitting next to her and sharing her life stories in person.

When the book became a best-seller, the money and fame that came with it changed her life. She began to lose sight of her aspiration and began to think she was exceptional. She began to drown in her fame and took on assignments, one after the other, purely for the financial reward they brought. But the second book didn’t sell, the third, even worse. When she realized that the world has had enough of her, there was not a single person around her that would refer to her as author.

She began to question the purpose of work and became embarrassed that her desire for fame and fortune was stronger than to be an author. But it was too late. With fame came the social bashing that came from the life of glamor and her love, the author, also left her. This is why she decided to pack up and move back to New York.

Listening to Hayley’s story made Asha reflect back on her five years in Paris. What should a job be? A dream? What is the most important thing in life? Asha began to tell bits and pieces of her thoughts to these questions to Hayley.
