Q 01.When is the application period?
The application period is between October 23, 2018 (Tue.) and Decemeber 2, 2018 (Sun.) by 11:59 p.m. JST.
Q 02.What is this year's theme?
This year's theme is Pokémon.
Q 03.Is there a participation fee?
No. It is free to participate in.
Q 04.How do I apply?
Download the format from the website. Create the design on the format. Then, use the entry form to upload the design that you created.

Q 06.How many entries can I submit?
As many as you want.
However, you can only upload a maximum of 5 entries at one time on the upload screen. If you wish to submit more than 6 entries, reenter personal information and repeat the application process. Repeat the entire process if you wish to submit more than 10 and multiples of 5 thereafter.
Q 07.Will you accept entries sent by postal mail?
No. We regret that we cannot accept an entry if it is sent by postal mail.
Q 08.I am a minor. Can I enter?
Yes. We accept applications regardless of the applicants' age, gender, nationality, etc. Under-age children are required to obtain the consent of a legal representative to participate.
Q 09.Can we enter as a group or company? If yes, how do we fill out the entry form?
Enter under the name of the person who is representing or leading your group/company.
Q 10.Is a design for the back side mandatory?
No, it is not mandatory. You can submit your entry with only a design for the front side.
Q 11.Can I use a photo shown at an exhibition?
Refrain from using photos that have been commoditized and/or photos for which you do not own the copyright. Feel free to use photos outside of those restrictions.
Q 12.Can I submit designs that I have previously entered in other competitions?
There will be no issues if the design is your original work, you own the copyright of the design and you have not signed any contracts/agreements on commoditizing of the design with any companies.
Q 13.Can you tell me about copyrights when I use my own character?
Although it is not necessary to transfer the copyright of your original character, the intellectual property such as the copyright of the design that features that character (including the rights specified in Article 27 and 28 of the Copyright Law of Japan) will be deemed transferred once the application is made. If you have any concerns in regards to the copyright of your original character, we recommend you to not include that character in your design.
Q 14.Are the commoditized T-shirts going to be for men and/or for women?
We plan to offer men's, women's and kids' items.
Q 15.What will happen to the copyright if my design is commoditized and becomes a real T-shirt?
Regardless of whether it is commercialized as a T-shirt or not, all rights (ownership and trademark rights, copyright [including the rights specified in Articles 27 and 28 of the Copyright Law of Japan] and all other intellectual property rights) shall exclusively belong to Game Freak Inc., Nintendo Co. Ltd., Creatures Inc., or anyone designated by them.
Q 16.When will you start retailing the T-shirts with the prize-winning designs?
We plan on releasing them in Summer 2019.
Q 17.Do I have to enter my real name as the name of the designer?
No, you do not need to enter your real name. Please enter designer's name within 30 one-byte characters.
Q 18.Which languages will you accept for the profile, title, etc.?
We accept all languages.
Q 19.I am filling out the entry form, but I cannot go on to the next page. (The screen becomes blank and white.)
For security reasons, you may run out of time if you take too long filling out the entry form. If the screen becomes blank, try again and complete the form within 10 minutes.
Q 20.I cannot upload my entry.
Check if the file size is 1280 pixels x 1280 pixels and the data format is JPEG or PNG. You cannot upload entries in Psd, ai and PDF formats.
Q 21.I cannot upload more than 6 entries.
You can only upload up to 5 entries at once, so complete your initial application. Use a new entry form to reapply and submit any additional entries. Repeat the entire process if you wish to submit more than 10 and multiples of 5 thereafter.

Q 01.Are there elements that I must include in the designs, such as logos and /or text?
No, there are no such requirements. You are free to design anything based on the theme of Pokémon.
Q 02.Do you distribute any official materials of Pokémon that can be used in the design?
No, we do not distribute any materials. You are free to design anything.
Q 03.Is it okay to use Pokémon images that are available online?
You may use materials that have been designed on your own, but you are prohibited to process images that have already been published.
Q 04.Is it okay to use objects, lines, or the like from Pokémon works in the design?
The use of materials that you have designed is permitted. Editing or processing visuals that have been previously released by others is not permitted.
Q 05.Are there any restrictions to the theme of the design?
All "Pokémon" contents are accepted. There are no specific restrictions.
Q 06.Can I change the color and/or design of characters that appear in Pokémon works?
The use of materials that you have designed is permitted. Editing or processing visuals that have been previously released by others is not permitted.
Q 07.Can I designate other colors for the T-shirt's fabric?
Download and use the designated T-shirt formats.
Q 08.Can I add design elements to the inside of the T-shirt?
There are no stipulations as to on which parts of the T-shirt the design elements must be placed (except the ribbing). Feel free to add design elements to the inside.
Q 09.Can I add design elements to the sleeves?
Yes. Adding design elements to the sleeves does not present problems.
Q 10.Can I submit a three-dimensional design?
We regret that we can only accept two-dimensional designs, such as pictures, illustrations, graphics, CGs and photos because the prize-winning entries will be adapted for T-shirts that will be available for retail.
Q 11.If my design requires a special printing process (i.e., the use of glitter), how should I explain my requirements?
Outline them in the description when submitting your entry.
Q 12.Can I submit a hand-drawn illustration?
Scan your illustration and place it on the designated T-shirt format. Or upload a picture of the square from the smartphone.
Q 13.Is there a limit to the number of colors that I can use in my designs?
No, there is no limit. However, the colors of the T-shirt's fabric are limited. Select one from the lineup of available colors.
Q 14.Which parts of the T-shirt are available for designing when I lay out my design elements? Can I use the sleeves and neck opening?
You can use all parts except for the ribbing.
UNIQLO reserves the right to decide the nature and the schedule of commoditizing the prize-winning designs. The form and fabric of the T-shirt are not open to alteration.
Q 15.What are the specifications (size, fabric, etc.) of the T-shirts that will be commoditized? I need to know, so that I can create my designs.
UNIQLO will decide whether to commercialize the design for men’s, women’s, and/or kids’ t-shirt at will.

Q 16.Do I have to use the entire 1280 x 1280 pixel space?
No, but make sure your design is not larger than 1280 x 1280 pixels. When uploading your entry, make sure your entry is in JPEG or PNG.
Q 17.It says that I get to design at life-size, but the on-screen T-shirt is smaller than an actual T-shirt is. Which size should I use?
Use the on-screen T-shirt to avoid any problems.

Q 01.Who are the judges?

We regret that we are not releasing information in regards to the selection process.
Q 03.What are the selection criteria?
We regret that we are not releasing information in regards to the selection process.
Q 04.When will the results of the final round of judging be announced?
We plan on announcing the results in Summer 2019.
Q 05.Will some entries be open to public voting?
No. The public will not be able to cast votes.
Q 06.How can I find out if I have passed the screening?
We are not announcing the results of the first screening. The results of the final round of judging will be posted on the website. We ask our applicants to check results on their own.

(4) Q&A about Prizes

Q 01.What are the prizes?
The winner of the Grand Prize, the runner-up, and the 3rd place finalist will be invited to the award ceremony scheduled to be held in Japan, and the "Pokémon World Championship (USA Washington, DC)" scheduled to be held in the summer of 2019. UNIQLO will prepare a round-trip economy class ticket and accomodation near the venue to each winner. The prize money will be as follows. Q 02.If I were to win the Grand Prize, when would I be going to the awards ceremony?
We plan on holding it in Summer 2019.
Q 03.Only the applicant himself / herself will be invited to the award ceremony. (Except when parents are required)
The prizewinner can bring one person with him/her.
Q 04.Can I choose the airline for the round trip, as well as the schedule during my stay in New York, freely on my own?
Details of participation in the award ceremony will only be notified to the Grand Prix and Second Place winners.
Q 05.What will the prizewinners have to pay for after arriving for the awards ceremony?
The prizewinners will be responsible for their meals. They will also be responsible for any transportation that is not part of the official tour. The prizewinners will be responsible for the costs of their passports should they not already possess them.
Q 06.Will the prizewinners be able to meet the judges at the awards ceremony?
Details will be notified to the winners.
Q 07.Can the prizewinners receive their cash prizes in currency other than US dollars?
Yes. The prizewinners will be paid in the currency of the country that they reside in. Only the prizewinners will receive detailed information.
Q 08.If the design is commoditized, what guarantees can the winning designer expect?
For the award-winning works of UTGP 2019, we will pay the amount of prize money stipulated in Q01, but there will be no additional guarantees for the designer if it is commercialized. All rights (entitlements and trademark rights, copyright [including the rights stipulated in Articles 27 and 28 of the Copyright Law of Japan] and all other intellectual property rights) relating to the submitted works are transferred to Game Freak Inc., Nintendo Co.
