Q01When is the application period?
The application period is between July 24, 2017 (Mon.) and August 31, 2017 (Thur.) by 11:59 p.m. JST.
Q02What is this year's theme?
This year's theme is Marvel.
Q03Is there a participation fee?
No. It is free to participate in.
Q04How do I apply?
Download the format from the website. Create the design on the format. Then, use the entry form to upload the design that you created.
Q05What kind of works can I submit?

Q06How many entries can I submit?
As many as you want.
However, you can only upload a maximum of 5 entries at one time on the upload screen. If you wish to submit more than 5 entries, reenter personal information and repeat the application process. Repeat the entire process if you wish to submit more than 10 and multiples of 5 thereafter.
Q07Will you accept entries sent by postal mail?
No. We regret that we cannot accept an entry if it is sent by postal mail.
Q08I am a minor. Can I enter?
Yes. We accept applications regardless of the applicants' age, gender, nationality, etc. Under-age children are required to obtain the consent of a legal representative to participate.
Q09Can we enter as a group or company? If yes, how do we fill out the entry form?
Enter under the name of the person who is representing or leading your group/company.
Q10Is a design for the back side mandatory?
No, it is not mandatory. You can submit your entry with only a design for the front side.
Q11Can I use a photo shown at an exhibition?
Refrain from using photos that have been commoditized and/or photos for which you do not own the copyright. Feel free to use photos outside of those restrictions.
Q12Can I submit designs that I have previously entered in other competitions?
There will be no issues if the design is your original work, you own the copyright of the design and you have not signed any contracts/agreements on commoditizing of the design with any companies.
Q13Can you tell me about copyrights when I use my own character?
If your entry passes the first screening, UTGP will contact you about the copyright of the design using that character, rather than the copyright of the character itself. If you have concerns about the copyright of your character, submitting an entry that features that character is not recommended.
Q14Are the commoditized T-shirts going to be for men and/or for women?
We plan to offer men's, women's and kids' items.
Q15What will happen to the copyright if my design is commoditized and becomes a real T-shirt?
All rights in and to the Artworks, including, without limitation, all trademarks, copyrights and other proprietary and intellectual property rights, shall exclusively vest in and are reserved by Disney Conumer Products Inc., MARVEL Characters B.V., Disney Enterprises Inc. or its designee.
Q16When will you start retailing the T-shirts with the prize-winning designs?
We plan on releasing them in Summer 2018.
Q17Do I have to enter my real name as the name of the designer?
No, you do not need to enter your real name. Please enter designer's name within 30 one-byte characters.
Q18Do I have to use a photo that shows my face for my profile picture?
No, you do not need to use a photograph showing your face. It can be a photograph or a logo, as long as it is in JPG format and is 256KB or less.
Q19Which languages will you accept for the profile, title, etc.?
We accept all languages.
Q20I am filling out the entry form, but I cannot go on to the next page. (The screen becomes blank and white.)
For security reasons, you may run out of time if you take too long filling out the entry form. If the screen becomes blank, try again and complete the form within 10 minutes.
Q21I cannot upload my entry.
Check if the file size is 1280 pixels x 1280 pixels and the data format is JPEG or PNG. You cannot upload entries in Psd, ai and PDF formats.
Q22I cannot upload more than 6 entries.
You can only upload up to 5 entries at once, so complete your initial application. Use a new entry form to reapply and submit any additional entries. Repeat the entire process if you wish to submit more than 10 and multiples of 5 thereafter.
Q23“There is a disclaimer that says some "private" information will be shown on the UT website for works that pass the first screening.” Does this mean personal information, such as my real name and address, will be posted on the website?
Names, addresses and other items of personal information will not be shown. The designer's name, country of origin, entry number, design title and comments will be open to the public.

(2) Q&A about Entries

Q01Are there elements that I must include in the designs, such as logos and /or text?
No, there are no such requirements. You are free to design anything based on the theme of Marvel.
Q02Do you distribute any official materials of Marvel that can be used in the design?
No. We are not offering any such materials at all. Let your imagination guide your designs.
Q03Is it okay to use Marvel images that are available online?
The use of materials that you have designed is permitted. Editing or processing visuals that have been previously released by others is not permitted.
Q04Is it okay to use objects, lines, or the like from Marvel works in the design?
The use of materials that you have designed is permitted. Editing or processing visuals that have been previously released by others is not permitted.
Q05Which Marvel characters may be used for the design?
You may use characters that appear in Marvel works that are specified on Character page. Refer to the Character page for details.
Q06Can I change the color and/or design of characters that appear in Marvel works?
The use of materials that you have designed is permitted. Editing or processing visuals that have been previously released by others is not permitted.
Q07Can I designate other colors for the T-shirt's fabric?
Download and use the designated T-shirt formats.
Q08Can I add design elements to the inside of the T-shirt?
There are no stipulations as to on which parts of the T-shirt the design elements must be placed (except the ribbing). Feel free to add design elements to the inside.
Q09Can I add design elements to the sleeves?
Yes. Adding design elements to the sleeves does not present problems.
Q10Can I submit a three-dimensional design?
We regret that we can only accept two-dimensional designs, such as pictures, illustrations, graphics, CGs and photos because the prize-winning entries will be adapted for T-shirts that will be available for retail.
Q11If my design requires a special printing process (i.e., the use of glitter), how should I explain my requirements?
Outline them in the description when submitting your entry.
Q12Can I submit a hand-drawn illustration?
Scan your illustration and place it on the designated T-shirt format.
Q13Is there a limit to the number of colors that I can use in my designs?
No, there is no limit. However, the colors of the T-shirt's fabric are limited. Select one from the lineup of available colors.
Q14Which parts of the T-shirt are available for designing when I lay out my design elements? Can I use the sleeves and neck opening?
You can use all parts except for the ribbing.
UNIQLO reserves the right to decide the nature and the schedule of commoditizing the prize-winning designs. The form and fabric of the T-shirt are not open to alteration.
Q15What are the specifications (size, fabric, etc.) of the T-shirts that will be commoditized? I need to know, so that I can create my designs.
UNIQLO will decide whether to commercialize the design for men’s, women’s, and/or kids’ t-shirt at will.

Q16Do I have to use the entire 1280 x 1280 pixel space?
No, but make sure your design is not larger than 1280 x 1280 pixels. When uploading your entry, make sure your entry is in JPEG or PNG format and use the designated 1280 x 1280 pixel format.
Q17It says that I get to design at life-size, but the on-screen T-shirt is smaller than an actual T-shirt is. Which size should I use?
Use the on-screen T-shirt to avoid any problems.

Q01Who are the judges?
The UTGP 2018 Marvel Panel of Judges.
Q02How were the judges selected?
We regret that we are not releasing information in regards to the selection process.
Q03What are the selection criteria?

Q04Will the results of the first screening be announced?
No. We are not announcing the results of the first screening.
Q05When will the results of the final round of judging be announced?
We plan on announcing the results in Summer 2018.
Q06Will some entries be open to public voting?
No. The public will not be able to cast votes.
Q07Who are the members of the Uniqlo Committee that will be judging the first screening?
The UNIQLO Committee is UNIQLO's in-house UT design team.
Q08How will I know if my design has passed the first/last round of judging?
We are not announcing the results of the first screening. The results of the final round of judging will be posted on the website. We ask our applicants to check results on their own.

(4) Q&A about Prizes

Q01What are the prizes?
The winners of the Grand Prize and the 2nd Prize will be invited to a Marvel office tour in New York and a Marvel hosted event for the movie “Avengers: Infinity War”. Uniqlo will cover one set of round-trip economy class tickets to and from New York and accommodations for the winners in the New York Area during the duration of the tour. A cash prize will be awarded as follows: US$10,000 for the winner of the Grand Prize, US$3,000 for the winner of the 2nd Prize, and US$500 for other prize winning entrants.
Q02If I were to win the Grand Prize, when would I be going to the awards ceremony?
We plan on holding it in Summer 2018.
Q03Can only the grand prize and second prize winners participate in the awards ceremony? Can I take someone along with me?
The prizewinner can bring one person with him/her.
Q04Can I choose the airline for the round trip, as well as the schedule during my stay in New York, freely on my own?
Details of participation in the award ceremony will only be notified to the Grand Prix and Second Place winners.
Q05What will the prizewinners have to pay for after arriving for the awards ceremony?
The prizewinners will be responsible for their meals. They will also be responsible for any transportation that is not part of the official tour. The prizewinners will be responsible for the costs of their passports should they not already possess them.
Q06Will the prizewinners be able to meet the judges at the awards ceremony?
Details will be notified to the winners.
Q07Can the prizewinners receive their cash prizes in currency other than US dollars?
Yes. The prizewinners will be paid in the currency of the country that they reside in. Only the prizewinners will receive detailed information.
Q08If the design is commoditized, what guarantees can the winning designer expect?
