UNIQLO to Launch Carine Roitfeld Collection for Fall/Winter 2016 on October 27

Latest Collaboration Emphasizes the Beauty of Career Women

Oct. 4, 2016, New York, New York – UNIQLO today announces the fall/winter 2016 launch of the latest Carine Roitfeld collection, a collaboration between the Japanese global casual apparel retailer and the charismatic fashion editor and influencer. The new collection will be available in the U.S. from Oct. 27 at the UNIQLO 5th Ave. Global Flagship store and online at UNIQLO.com.

The Carine Roitfeld 2016 fall/winter Collection was jointly created by Carine Roitfeld and UNIQLO Design Director Naoki Takizawa, and offers a new type of LifeWear with a difference. Bringing stylish elegance to women with active lifestyles, the lineup takes elements of Roitfeld’s typical trend-setting style, such as popular imitation fur and a Chesterfield overcoat, and adds items that help create the ideal wardrobe for career women, from outerwear to knits, suit separates, belts, tights and accessories.

As with last season, the advertising campaign supporting this collection was shot by iconic fashion photographer Steven Meisel. Since he knows Carine very well, he could create the highlight new facets of UNIQLO’s worldview.

Three Key Concepts in the 2016 Fall/Winter Collection

Expanded range of items reflecting latest trends - Fashionable imitation fur is presented in a MA-1 type jacket with a feminine style leopard print. Other stylish items include a Chesterfield-type baggy suit inspired by men’s fashions.

Outerwear collection emphasizing silhouettes and materials - The outerwear collection for this season was created with close attention to silhouettes and materials. A wide range of jackets and coats are offered, from those with mannish tailoring to items in feminine cuts that highlight waist and back lines. Materials such as imitation fur, boa, neo-leather and tweed have been expertly combined to create outerwear exceptional in both design and quality.

Contrast of masculine and feminine - The masculine/feminine contrast is both a fashion trend and a signature style of Roitfeld herself. In the masculine style, the collection includes tweed coats and large lapel tailored jackets designed to incorporate mannish elements, while the feminine style includes wool coats designed with a womanly flare of greater volume through the waist and hips. The collection was designed to reflect the style of the new woman as envisioned by Roitfeld.
