Miami is unlike anywhere else! It’s such a unique mix of cultures. Growing up surrounded by so many Latin Americans who understood my own culture made me feel right at home.

Absolutely. Between my Mexican roots and Miami’s Art Deco architecture, I’ve always been surrounded by color. It’s impossible not to be inspired!

My career in design happened quite organically. I always knew I wanted to work in a creative field, but I never imagined it would lead me to interior design. I started sharing my home online and that naturally turned into opportunities to design for others. I believe in learning through experience, so it’s been incredible to see how far my creativity has taken me and how much I’ve grown along the way.

Definitely. We're in an era where the artist community is really coming in strong. We were missing a little bit of that before. Now I see a new local business opening an art studio, or creatives creating neat things like flea markets. Interior design-wise, we're just getting started which is really exciting.

There's not one specific way to describe my style because I take so much inspiration from different eras. I'm just a colorful, maximalist, retro person. I love feeling comfortable when I'm DIYing or painting walls, so I also appreciate a good pair of jeans and a baby tee.

I constantly find inspiration in everything around me, and lately I feel like I’m going through a rebrand of my entire life.

Suddenly I’m loving things I never thought I would, like neutrals. I’m even keeping all the walls in my studio white, which I would not have done a few years ago. I’ve learned to appreciate balance, but I’ll always love unique design, whether it’s through color, shape, or unexpected materials. So don’t let the white walls fool you—the rest of the space is going to be just as fun and maximalist as ever!

A million percent! I love creating spaces that make people happy and reconnect them with their inner child. Your home should reflect who you are, not what society thinks a grown-up home should look like. It's all about remembering who you are and being able to express yourself.

Miami is where so many different cuisines and cultures land. We have a beautiful community of Haitians and Jamaicans, just to name a few. We have the dominant Latin community too, like the Cubans, Colombians, Venezuelans. It's a city that surrounds itself with incredible produce and the ocean that feeds us. That is represented in a lot of our cuisines and of course, on the menus of Los Félix and Krüs Kitchen.

Well, our uniforms are extremely important and they've got to be comfortable. They should feel light and organic. Otherwise, you're not going to be able to work properly in the heat of a kitchen and in the rush of service. It's essential to be comfortable with yourself in order to execute a perfect service and a perfect dish every time.

Miami is such a young city. In the last 10 years it has truly started to shape its own identity and form communities. We're finding our culture, finding our cuisine. We're all trying to push for a city that not only feeds off the nightlife and fancy restaurants that everybody comes for, but the more independent endeavors in gastronomy, art, fashion, technology, everything. Right now, I am very proud to say that we are one of those pioneer restaurant groups here that started six years ago.

I'm always on the go. I want to be able to take my motorcycle from the restaurant to the Everglades and camp out with some friends in the wild. Then I’ll go back home and cook a meal for my wife. So my style is all about comfort, simplicity, and flexibility—some loose pants, a nice shirt, and sometimes tennis shoes, though I do prefer flip-flops.

You know, the last thing I want to think about is what I'm wearing when I have the biggest responsibility of feeding people and cultivating our culture for our venues and restaurants. Essentially, my closet is simple. I feel that the more simple things you wear, the more you attract people. If I look approachable, then people will feel comfortable approaching me. We need to feel comfortable approaching each other to connect, to learn something from one another.
