Wagashi are traditional Japanese confections loved by many people. Through collaborations with longestablished confection houses, UNIQLO launched a series based on Wagashi motifs. Kudos to: Kimuraya Sohonten, the inventor of “anpan” or bread with redbean filling; Habutae Dango, known for dumplings which have been mentioned in a lot of Japanese literature; Bunmeido instrumental in making Castella (Castilla) a household name across Japan; Mamegen, which, over many decades, has uncovered different shades of flavors in snacks made from beans, peas and nuts; Tokiwado Kaminari-Okoshi Honpo, which produces Kaminari Okoshi or sweet, crispy crackers made of puffed rice; and Eitaro Sohonpo headquartered in Tokyo’s Nihonbashi District. Enjoy our collection, which captures some of the iconic motifs, patterns and lettering of the confection houses in simple design.
Tokiwado Kaminariokoshihonpo has been selling Kaminariokoshi in Asakusa, Tokyo since the late Edo period about 220 years ago. The name of Kaminariokoshi is derived from the familiar kaminarimon. In addition, many people are pleased with the fortune of "raising the house and raising the name".
