SUSTAINABILITY
Food and Essential Item Drives at Stores Around the Country
Select UNIQLO store teams organized food and essential item drives for their communities. New Jersey stores offered staff an opportunity to donate items to our local partner, Welcome Home Jersey City. Welcome Home Jersey City is a grassroots community-based organization committed to providing educational, employment, and material support to refugees, asylees, and asylum-seekers in the Jersey City area. Our UNIQLO NJ staff volunteered on Saturday, December 9th, to distribute the items they collected to Welcome Home Jersey City clients. Learn more about Welcome Home Jersey City here: https://welcomehomerefugees.org/. Similarly, Seattle store teams coordinated a food drive in their stores to benefit the local University District Food Bank, while LA stores collected to benefit the Los Angeles Mission. Volunteering in Your City
Our teams volunteered around the country during this holiday season. UNIQLO HQ members volunteered at the Bowery Mission in New York City, preparing and serving food to those experiencing food insecurity and homelessness. Learn more about The Bowery Mission here: https://www.bowery.org/
Our Los Angeles store teams and HQ members spent the morning at the LA Food Bank, packing non-perishable food boxes for the community. Learn more about the LA Food Bank here:https://www.lafoodbank.org/
Ultra Light Down Jacket Donation + Volunteer at the Nationalities Service Center
The Nationalities Service Center is a Philadelphia-based refugee and immigrant support organization. In support of NSC's annual Winter Coat Drive, UNIQLO donated 500 Ultra Light Down Jackets. UNIQLO staff members from our Chestnut St store in Philadelphia helped NSC prepare, organize, and distribute these jackets to the local community. Community Shopping Events for Kids
UNIQLO USA regularly hosts “Community Shopping Events” in our stores, where kids in need can shop for a free UNIQLO outfit! This year, our Walt Whitman store invited kids from Community Housing Innovations into their brand-new space. Our Natick store in Boston invited youth partners of our RE.UNIQLO partner, Circle of Hope, to shop. Celebrating a New Wave of Peace for All, Our Charity T-shirt Collection
On Saturday, December 9th, in celebration of the launch of a new wave of Peace for All T-shirt designs, the UNIQLO 5th Ave global flagship store hosted 25 children ages 6-10 for a special card-making workshop in coordination with the NYC Department of Homeless Services and in partnership with Save the Children US.
The workshop was led by Artolution, and the children created their own characters inspired by Peanuts, one of the global collaborators of UNIQLO’s Peace for All charity t-shirt project.
UNIQLO first partnered with Save the Children through the Peace for All t-shirt charity project in June 2022. Locally, this past summer, UNIQLO USA donated 9,000 pieces of clothing to children in the Save the Children’s Make Summer Fair initiative.
This holiday season, UNIQLO is teaming up with our local Peace for All partner, Save the Children U.S. to support their work in the U.S. and around the world. Throughout December, customers can make a donation at checkout in your local UNIQLO store to benefit Save the Children’s programs – supporting children and families affected by conflict, poverty, discrimination and natural disasters. UNIQLO USA will additionally donate $20,000. Or you can donate to Save the Children by clicking here.
