UNIQLO partnered with Plan International USA for a International Women’s Day Takeover

In celebration of International Women’s Day, UNIQLO US partnered with girls’ rights organization Plan International USA to have young women take over positions of leadership, ensuring their voices are heard in the critical conversations on gender equality. Plan youth’s advocate Rose (she/her) is an undergraduate senior at Princeton University, where she is studying sociology with a certificate in gender and sexuality studies. Rose’s interests are heavily influenced by her identity as a first-generation, low-income Vietnamese-American student.

Rose spent the morning as Chief Administrative Officer and General Counsel of Fast Retailing USA, Inc, the parent company to UNIQLO, taking over Serena Peck’s role. During the Takeover, Rose leveraged her experiences leading diversity and inclusion recruitment for Plan’s youth programs to provide recommendations for UNIQLO’s women’s networking group. In the afternoon, Rose took over the role of Amena Pierre-Louis as store manager of the UNIQLO SoHo flagship store in NYC, where she learned about managing large teams and multi-tasking while always providing excellent customer service through an inclusion lens.

I was always interested in clothing and styling, so it was such a full circle moment to be a part of this takeover experience to learn more about Fast Retail and UNIQLO!" said Rose. "Meeting Serena was inspiring, and her words reassured me a lot about the future. The behind-the-scenes experience is something I will remember for a lifetime!" Since June 2022, UNIQLO has partnered with Plan International Inc. through Peace for All, an ongoing charitable project with all profits donated to three non-profit organizations including Plan International Inc.
