The scale of the refugee crisis is staggering. In 2018, there were 68.5 million people displaced worldwide—and nearly half were children. Together, Sesame Workshop and the International Rescue Committee are creating a transformative early childhood development program designed to meet the unique needs of Syrian refugee children and their families.

UNIQLO is selling greeting cards online and in select stores that feature artwork made by Syrian refugee children living in Lebanon. These Cards of Hope were co-created by Sesame Workshop (the nonprofit behind Sesame Street) and the International Rescue Committee, and feature artwork by Syrian refugee children living in Lebanon. 100% of the sale price will be donated to Sesame Workshop and the IRC’s work together.

In-Store Programs for Kids
Last Fall 2018, we brought elementary school groups to UNIQLO stores in New York, San Francisco, Berlin and Tokyo for drawing workshops and to learn about the refugee crisis. The students created greeting cards that featured their dreams for the future and these cards were sent back to their friends living in Lebanon.

About the Program
Together, Sesame Street and the IRC are creating a transformative early childhood development program designed to reflect the unique experiences of displaced families in the Syrian response region. The program reaches caregivers and children wherever they are—from classrooms and health clinics to TV and mobile devices—with the vital educational resources they need to thrive.
