Stylist secrets for winter dressing.
“Layering is key!” says Sally Lyndley, the star in this video and the stylist behind the Get Dressed With Me series, on staying warm and on trend this winter. “The possibilities are limitless,” she says. “I style looks for ‘real-life’ situations women face, including work, errands, weekends, parties, and date nights.” With access to UNIQLO’s new collection, Lyndley wanted to show the brand’s range. “They make awesome denim, knits, and tailoring, even though most people know them for puffer jackets.” Here, Lyndley shops the entire UNIQLO 5th Avenue store and weighs in on the looks that belong in every woman’s winter wardrobe.
“These jeans are right on trend with a wide leg, cropped hem, and tight, high waist,” Lyndley says of the versatile denim in the first look. “Paring them with a fitted sweater and button-down is a nice way to update classic items in your closet.”
Inspired by the brightly colored oversize puffers that lined the runways, Lyndley opted for an extra-large puffer in the second outfit. “I paired it with HEATTECH velvet leggings because a slim silhouette under a giant down coat dresses up the look.” Whereas a twist on traditional tailoring inspired Look 3. “I fell in love with these gray pinstripe trousers for their easy, comfortable fit and dressed-up sensibility,” Lyndley says. “I love nodding to Savile Row.”
For the final style, less is more, even after dusk. “This gorgeous warm knit dress covers work, cocktail parties, and holiday dinners. Add heels and a cashmere coat for a minimalist evening look.” Her final piece of layering advice: “Color-block with your long johns, trousers, and sweaters to keep it fun and avoid drab winter colors.”
