NEWS
UNIQLO held “LifeWear Day at Dodger Stadium” on June 21, 2026 in Los Angeles, California. This event marks the first title-sponsored event following the partnership announced between the Los Angeles Dodgers and UNIQLO in March 2026, and the subsequent announcement of community-focused initiatives in the Los Angeles area in May. It represents a symbolic milestone of this collaboration.
A Stadium Immersed in UNIQLO
On the day of the event, an exclusive Dodgers-themed “AIRism Cotton Oversized T-Shirt” (not for sale) was distributed to the first 40,000 attendees. The stadium was filled with fans wearing the special T-shirt, creating a unified visual experience throughout the venue.
Inside the stadium, UNIQLO branded photo booths offered fans the opportunity to capture game day photos with a life-size standee of Dodgers manager Dave Roberts. Fans who posted their game day photos using #UNIQLOField had the chance to be featured on the iconic DodgerVision screen during the game.
In addition, exclusive event visuals were displayed on the stadium’s large screens. These activations, combined with the excitement of the game, created an immersive brand experience, offering a uniquely UNIQLO moment for fans.
Ceremonial First Pitch by Shingo Kunieda
One of the highlights of the event was the ceremonial first pitch by Shingo Kunieda, UNIQLO Global Brand Ambassador and former wheelchair tennis player. Before the pitch, he commented:
“Since beginning my partnership with UNIQLO in 2009, I could never have imagined that it would expand into the sports world in such a way—from Kei Nishikori and Roger Federer to today’s collaboration with the Dodgers. I feel truly honored to be here today through these many meaningful connections.”
He also shared:
“After retiring in 2023, I had the opportunity—through UNIQLO—to speak with Ichiro Suzuki, the former MLB star and Baseball Hall of Famer, and even play catch with him. Today, I wanted to use the glove he gave me on that occasion, so I made sure to prepare carefully for this moment.”
At the ceremony, he stepped onto the mound wearing the limited-edition UNIQLO T-shirt, greeted by warm applause from the crowd. His pitch, delivered from a near sidearm motion, reached the catcher on the fly, drawing loud cheers and applause throughout the stadium. He was also seen sharing a light moment with manager Dave Roberts.
Afterward, Kunieda reflected with a smile:
“I had intended to focus on everything I had practiced, but the moment I stepped onto the mound, I forgot it all (laughs). You can only understand this atmosphere by actually being there—it was truly a once-in-a-lifetime experience. I was nervous, but I had an amazing time.”
For the Next Generation
The Dodgers and UNIQLO plan to launch youth baseball programs, including international exchange initiatives for children, starting in August 2026, based at “UNIQLO Field at Dodger Stadium”. Through activities that connect the local community, baseball, and UNIQLO’s LifeWear philosophy, both organizations aim to contribute to the people of Los Angeles and inspire the next generation with hope and opportunity.
