Supporting Youth Through Clothing: UNIQLO and Covenant House
May 27, 2026
SUSTAINABILITY
Covenant House is an international organization that provides housing and support to youth facing homelessness, helping young people transform their lives and move toward independence and safety. In 2025, UNIQLO began partnering with Covenant House to donate gently used clothing collected through RE.UNIQLO in more than 80 stores to young people facing homelessness.
Together, this partnership helps extend the life of UNIQLO garments collected through in-store donations across the country while providing practical clothing support to youth and young adults.
These donated items are then sorted by UNIQLO store teams and distributed to Covenant House shelters, helping ensure they are reused in ways that respond to real community needs.
As UNIQLO’s national nonprofit partner for RE.UNIQLO in the U.S., Covenant House helps receive and distribute donated clothing to youth and young adults who can benefit from it most. Through its broader work, Covenant House provides shelter, essential services, and resources that help young people move toward stability and independence.
In 2025, UNIQLO supported Covenant House’s Youth Homelessness Awareness Rally in Times Square, helping bring visibility to the issue of youth homelessness and the need for continued community support. That same year, through Heart of LifeWear, UNIQLO also donated HEATTECH items to help youth at Covenant House stay warm during the winter months.
In 2026, we expanded this support to include professional development. UNIQLO partnered with its sister brand, Theory, to host 30 youth from Covenant House New York for a professional shopping opportunity, where participants were paired with volunteers and selected LifeWear pieces suited for interviews, internships, and employment. Volunteers supported participants with fit and styling, helping them choose outfits and take a professional headshot for LinkedIn and other professional use.

The RE.UNIQLO Partnership
RE.UNIQLO is UNIQLO’s global initiative to collect, reuse, and redistribute clothing so that each garment can have a longer life. In the United States, customers can donate gently used UNIQLO items at in-store collection bins nationwide.

Supporting Youth Beyond RE.UNIQLO
The partnership has also created opportunities for volunteer engagement and in-person support beyond RE.UNIQLO clothing donations. Beginning in 2024, UNIQLO has supported Covenant House through a range of community-based activations, including an upcycling workshop for youth interested in fashion design, sponsorship of a holiday party at Covenant House’s New York shelter, and a holiday pinpad donation campaign that invited customers to support Covenant House directly at checkout in all UNIQLO stores.
