Store Operations - West Coast / Regional Manager
Importance of Staff Development
UNIQLO has helped me develop professionally by constantly challenging me to think innovatively and providing me with many growth opportunities. Not only have I been able to develop my own career here but also I’ve been able to develop my employees’ careers. The highlight of my work is knowing that I’ve made a positive impact on someone’s life and career by supporting and training them as a leader and mentor. My goal is for UNIQLO to be known both for its amazing customer experience and employee opportunities.
Merchandising / Women's Merchandise Manager
As a brand, UNIQLO had been on my radar for a while. Its business was growing as other retailers were downsizing, and the opportunities for growth were exciting. When I discovered that UNIQLO was looking to expand its Merchandise Planning team in New York, I jumped at the opportunity! The Merchandise Planning role at UNIQLO is very unique. It requires a degree of business ownership that you won’t find at other retail companies. I also get to work cross-functionally with members of almost every other department, some of whom operate out of our global headquarters in Japan.
Allocations / Allocation Manager
Opportunities for Career Growth
UNIQLO values its employees. If you have the passion, talent, and drive, you have the opportunity to really build your career here. I joined the company as an Advanced Sales Associate and worked my way up to become a Store Manager. Now, I manage the entire Allocations department. If you look around our company, you see so many people who started as sales associates, supervisors-in-training, or UNIQLO Manager Candidates in our stores. I don’t know many other retailers where employees at the corporate office can say, “I started in the stores”. If you work hard at your dream and are hungry to learn, you can really go places.
Store Operations - West Coast / Area Manager
One of the most noteworthy aspects of working at UNIQLO is seeing how far the company has come. I joined the company in 2012 when there were only three stores in the U.S. and no E-commerce. Now, we have over 50 stores and UNIQLO.com, and Fast Retailing is the third largest global apparel manufacturer and retailer in the world! I’ve had the opportunity to live in New York, Tokyo, San Francisco, and Los Angeles, working with leaders who inspire me to lead the growth of UNIQLO not only in the U.S. but also around the world. The company has really taught me how to run a business, take action, and show results through hard work and a positive attitude.
Marketing / VP of Marketing
I chose to join UNIQLO for several reasons. Firstly, I wanted a new challenge that would further build my capability both as a leader and marketer. I was also excited for the opportunity to use great marketing to shape and drive UNIQLO’s business in the U.S. However, I was most inspired by the company’s mission to positively impact the world and people’s lives by creating truly great clothing. This mission is realized in our advanced fabric technology, innovative and thoughtful product design, and distinct approve to store operations. I hope to make UNIQLO a well-known, beloved brand and the #1 apparel retailer in the U.S.
US Ariake / Project Manager, US Ariake
UNIQLO’s strength is its focus on the core of our business – the customer. The customer is why we exist, and the product is why the customer shops with us. By keeping operations simple every day and focusing on delivering the right product, to the right place, at the right time, we are able to make our customers happy. Every decision being grounded in that customer's happiness is UNIQLO's strength. No matter which department you work in, we all share that same common goal, customer satisfaction.
Marketing / Product Marketing Manager
UNIQLO has provided me with a global perspective that has enriched both my personal and professional life. Since joining the company five years ago, I have had many opportunities to learn from the business overseas, whether it be from the diverse team of global leaders at UNIQLO USA or from attending sessions in Japan with the founder and CEO of Fast Retailing, Mr. Yanai. I hope to take what I’ve learned and one day become the COO of the Western U.S., bringing UNIQLO’s great value to American customers.
Marketing / Director of Communications
Passion to Succeed
UNIQLO’s work environment can be intense and its culture demanding. Although the company is an established global brand, there is still so much to be accomplished. UNIQLO is a company that welcomes entrepreneurship and creativity, and you feel that energy daily in the office. We are all passionate about the brand and dedicated to contributing to its success. There is no shortage of focus on constantly improving our products and our organization in the interest of our customers.
IMD / IMD Layout Planner
It’s hard to put into words how great of a company UNIQLO has been for my growth. In particular, the critical thinking and teamwork skills that I’ve learned and put into practice daily have enabled me to grow in countless ways. I feel more confident not only in my work but also in my daily life. UNIQLO is really a place to build life skills beyond the job. The company has also provided me with once-in-a-lifetime experiences, such as the opportunity to open the Atlantic Terminal store from scratch!
Store Operations - East Coast / Regional Manager
Impacting the Business
I joined UNIQLO because I wanted to work for an international company and have the opportunity to work all over the world. Not only was I able to train in Japan, but also I had the opportunity to travel there for a product development project. For the project, I gave my feedback and opinions on product samples. This was super impactful for me because I knew that my opinion was valued. My feedback was eventually implemented in the final design of a few products, and it was exciting to see those products in real life in the stores.
Store Operations - Manhattan / UNIQLO NY 5th Avenue General Manager
Challenging Conventional Wisdom
One of the most exciting aspects of working at UNIQLO is the ability to set and achieve goals that challenge conventional wisdom. A specific example that comes to mind is the Tysons Corner store opening. When we were preparing for the new store opening, we were given a very short deadline of six days, compared to the traditional deadline of 21 days. As the business leader of the unit, I challenged my team to stick to this deadline and come together to achieve our goal. We were able to successfully open the store in six days, a true example of concurrent work between stores and headquarters in NYC to get all of the moving parts to work together.
Store Operations - Manhattan / UNIQLO NY SOHO General Manager
I joined the company as an Associate almost nine years ago. Since then, I’ve learned so many different skills that are necessary to becoming a true business leader. Not only has the company taught me to really care about others and support their growth and development, but also it has taught me the ins and outs of running a business. Before UNIQLO, I didn't know anything about sales, but now, I’m able to analyze numbers, like P&L, and run all aspects of the store’s business as a Store Manager. In the future, I want to become the East Coast Director of Store Operations.
