Gorgeous colors born from fine yarn.
Extra Fine Merino wool, with its incredibly thin fibers, has a shiny surface and produces vivid colors. To create consistently beautiful colors we dye the wool when it's raw, instead of after it has been spun into yarn.
100% easy care, 100% wool.
Wool can require extra care, but we've worked out several ways to overcome that. With a special non-shrink treatment, this sweater is machine washable but retains the elegant feel of wool. We also apply a treatment to suppress pilling and twisting to produce a 100% wool sweater that will look great for a long time.
Enhancing the fine color and luster.
Only by using extra fine merino, which has extremely thin fibers, were we able to achieve excellent color and elegant luster. In order to make the most of its characteristics, dyeing is done at the pre-spun stage. The wool is dyed evenly over time and is transformed into a beautiful thread through a process called "drawing" (making the separated fibers uniform). The knitting itself is done by machine, but the linking that connects each part is done by the hands of craftsmen. Then, by applying washable processing, it's made both beautiful and easy to care for. The higher quality the knitwear, the more you want to wear its comfortable fit every day. The volume of processes we employ is an embodiment of this ideal.
Roger Federer's favorite year-round sweater.
Merino sweater is Uniqlo Global Brand Ambassador Roger Federer's favorite for many reasons. It can be used for a variety of occasions in any season, such as staying warm from fall to spring and taking it with him on evening walks in the summer. Another reason is that they are lightweight, wrinkle-resistant, and machine-washable for his travels around the world. "I used to dress it up with a collared shirt underneath, but lately I've been wearing it with a T-shirt and jeans for a casual look, or under an evening jacket with dress pants," he says.

Still beautiful after 15 washings.
Natural materials can be tough to care for. That's why we're updating the conventional wisdom. We've given the wool special nonshrink and anti-pilling treatments while retaining the delicate texture. We tried machine washing it 15 times*, and you can see the result in the photo. There's no noticeable pilling or fuzz. It looks so good, you can hardly tell which one has been washed 15 times.
*Testing used a Type C (pulsator) washing machine at the Kaken Test Center following the JIS L1930 testing method.
*Ironed after washing.
