Extra Fine Merino wool, with its incredibly thin fibers, has a shiny surface and produces vivid colors. Furthermore, UNIQLO's aim has been to create consistently beautiful colors by dyeing the wool when it's raw, instead of after it has been spun into yarn. We worked hard to give these sweaters rich colors in addition to great material.

Easy-care, 100% wool.

Wool is a dainty natural material with a pleasing texture. But the downside is the extra care it requires. We've worked out several ways to overcome that. With a special nonshrink treatment, this sweater is machine washable and prevents furballs while retaining the material's elegant feel and maintaining its beauty for a long time.

Fully bringing out the fine color and luster.

The extremely thin fibers of Extra Fine Merino (about 19.5 microns or less) provide expressive color and a refined luster. To make the most of these characteristics, dyeing is done at the fiber stage. Wool that has been dyed evenly over time is eventually transformed into beautiful yarns through a process called “combing” (passing the wool fibers through combs to make them uniform). The knitting is done by machine, but the linking process to connect the parts is done by hand by skilled craftspersons. Further processing to make items machine washable adds to their beauty and makes it easy to care. The many processing steps reflect a commitment to high-quality knitwear for everyday comfort.
