Extra Fine Cotton Broadcloth Shirt

The fabric is ultra-long cotton. This cotton with longer and thinner fibers produces a chic sheen and vivid colors. UNIQLO broadcloth shirts only use this fabric. There are many patterns with beautiful colors and designs, including solid colors, stripes, and checked. For each color dye and pattern, we elaborately fine-tune the fabric, such as by adjusting yarn thickness and density. We find ways to bring out the beauty in every color and pattern.

A good shirt starts with good cotton.

Untangling cotton flowers makes cotton fiber. In particular, "extra-long staple cotton", with fiber lengths of 35 mm or more, is high-quality cotton, of which production is limited even worldwide. The fiber has a smooth feel and pleasing luster. At UNIQLO's factory, impurities are carefully removed from the block-shaped bales of extra-long staple cotton that arrive from producing areas. The fibers are twisted many times while gradually aligning their direction and spun into beautiful yarn.

Symmetrical beauty by human hands.

The fabric for Extra Fine Cotton shirts with checks or stripe patterns is roughly cut, after which skilled craftspersons make adjustments by hand to perfectly align the patterns. After each pattern is properly aligned, it is cut again. This two-step process ensures that the patterns for the collar, placket, sleeves, and cuffs are symmetrical, and that each part is finished beautifully without misalignment. Every detail is meticulous. That’s the secret to making a beautiful shirt.
