The Next Generation of LifeWear
for the Best
Performance
of the Swedish Team
Drawing on the shared values of its partnership with the Swedish Olympic and Paralympic Committees -quality, innovation, and sustainability- UNIQLO and its partners have together created the next generation of LifeWear to enable the best-possible performance in Beijing and beyond.
UNIQLO is very proud to continue to partner with the Swedish Olympic and Paralympic teams, and is pleased to offer our evolved LifeWear clothing to them at the coming 2022 Winter Olympics and Paralympics in Beijing, following the Tokyo Games. Since signing a partnership agreement with the Swedish team in January 2019, UNIQLO has been providing our clothing to Swedish Olympians, Paralympians and officials. In July 2021, at the Tokyo Games, athletes wearing UNIQLO official clothing showed outstanding performances and impressed us.
The new collection is expressed in a smart layering system that primes athletes for all conditions, including extreme cold. UNIQLO helps the Swedish athletes reach absolute peak performance potential with LifeWear at the stage of the Winter Games in Beijing.
Three Key Elements
UNIQLO’s LifeWear concept is the ultimate everyday comfort. The concept of making everyone's life better matches the modern lifestyles of Sweden, and is reflected in the clothing developed for the Swedish athletes. The new collection builds on the recent success of the UNIQLO partnership with the Swedish Olympic and Paralympic Committees in Tokyo. For Beijing, UNIQLO will again provide its LifeWear apparel for Swedish athletes and officials to wear at ceremonies, in training and competition, press engagements and during leisure, and travel time.
01
QUALITY
Layering System / Made for All
UNIQLO studied Beijing’s winter climate and conducted a series of tests in extremely cold regions to
develop a layering- system lineup of outer, middle, and base items.
Each item is easy to put on or take off to regulate body temperature for comfort and performance
under changing weather and exercise conditions. UNIQLO also collaborated with wheelchair athletes to
create the Hybrid Jacket and Shell Pants meeting their needs; the cut of the jacket eliminates bulk
around the abdomen when seated. The ingenious waist design of the pants makes them easy to put on or
remove.
02
INNOVATION
In Design, Technology and Fabrics
UNIQLO incorporated athlete insight in functional testing, developing new fabrics to ensure comfort
in any environment. These were tested at UNIQLO’s weather simulation laboratory at its global
headquarters in Tokyo.
New technology in the Hybrid Jacket maintains warmth in extreme cold. Down pockets and a double
russet mesh material with a three-dimensional coarse knit enhance breathability and reduce
stuffiness from sweating. Shirts and softshell jackets for training and while on the move employ
UNIQLO DRY-EX fabric, which swiftly absorbs and wicks away perspiration. Vents at the armpits, back
and elsewhere promote cooling during exertion. A new material in inner tops and tights features
brushed fabric liners for warmth, dryness, and comfort.
03
SUSTAINABILITY
Recycled materials
UNIQLO has designed sustainability features into the collection, inspired by its partnership with
the Swedish Olympic and Paralympic Committees.
Some items employ polyester made from recycled plastic bottles. Light down jackets use 100% recycled
down and feathers. Other items incorporate nylon from yarn discarded during manufacturing processes.
UNIQLO also used dyes made from natural plants, and fluorine-free water repellents.
