Linen: Transformed by Human Hands

The oldest textile in the world, linen is mainly produced in Northern France. The premium linen used by UNIQLO has a distinct, signature texture thanks to little knots in the fiber called “Neps,” but a balance must be found between too many and too few. To achieve this, we remove excess Neps from the fabric one-by-one with tweezers—a process requiring patience as well as the steady hand and keen eyes of highly skilled textile experts.
