UNIQLO Princes Street Draws Crowds as the First Store in Scotland

The UNIQLO Princes Street store is housed in the iconic, modernist purpose-built retail space spanning approximately 1,400 square meters across two floors, designed by Johnson-Marshall and Partners in 1965. The store design is centred around a natural stone staircase that guides customers up to the first floor, which offers beautiful views of the iconic Edinburgh Castle.
The store features an in-store cafe in partnership with London-based Japanese tearoom Katsute100, offering customers Japanese inspired refreshments. On opening day, the café was packed with eager locals looking to enjoy the incredible castle view while sipping on a matcha latte.
Located next to the cafe is RE.UNIQLO STUDIO, where customers can find limited edition embroidery by popular Scottish drink IRN-BRU. These exclusive embroidered designs were a huge success with Scottish customers from day one.
Other local partners for the store include furniture by Chippendale School of Furniture, a library curated by Golden Hare Books and floral displays inspired by the Scottish countryside from Pyrus flowers.
In addition, with the opening of the UNIQLO Princes Street store, UNIQLO has launched new initiatives such as partnering with Edinburgh-based charity Social Bite in support of its mission to end homelessness.

UNIQLO Princes Street is the UK’s 19th overall store, following the recently launched One Oxford Street store that opened in the heart of London’s west end on April 18.
