From NY / Paris / Tokyo! Realistic dressing technique Vol.3 Winter outer
Against the backdrops of their captivating lifestyles, six New York-, Paris-, and Tokyo-based influencers share their self-styled looks, all of which feature this season’s key elements and items, like corduroy, winter bottoms, and winter outerwear, and all of which are practical to the core. Kana Oya, a Tokyo-based model, and Rachel Wang, a New York-based stylist, conclude this three-part series styling winter outerwear.
Kana Oya / TOKYO
Model, YouTuber, columnist, and professional traveler
Scene 1 : At a Café
Kana Oya cites, “the many options, be they for dining or accommodations” as the allure of Tokyo. She’s been living in Tokyo for 14 years now, and she’s been gaining popularity not only as a model but also as a YouTuber. Her creative temperament is evident in her desire to have viewers explore a variety of emotions through the videos that she creates with her team. In the future, “I’d like to do podcasts in which I ramble on about the things I love.” Apparently, she hasn’t been able to style down items well, but hopes to give them a try this year.
Kana’s comment
“Down parkas tend to have a masculine feel, so I deliberately coordinated one to a feminine printed dress. People tend to think of down items as bulky and prone to bloating, but this hybrid down parka has a trim silhouette. It’s great that it’s so fashionable.”

Kana’s comment
“I wore this wool blend coat to the ice cream shop that I often go to. I love its genderless form. It’s not too masculine, but it isn’t too feminine either. I went with casual sneakers and sweats to offset the coat’s dressy feel, but I coordinated everything, except the coat, in white to produce a classy appearance.”

Kana’s comment
“I chose a bright orange sweater to complement the playful feel of the pile-lined jacket and checked pants. The jacket doesn’t have a collar, so it looks adorable even when it’s matched to turtleneck or mock neck items. It’s easy to layer, too. I also like that it’s reversible.”

Rachael Wang / NY
Stylist and creative consultant
Rachael Wang is a stylist who majored in literature. Suggested by a friend, internships at W Magazine and New York magazine led to a career in the fashion industry. She remains actively involved in fashion, creating styled looks for magazines, ads, and shows. Her new aspiration in New York, where she’s lived since 2006, is “trying to learn to be a better gardener. I would love to be able to grown my own food.” It’s an endeavor she hopes will bring another dimension to her already fulfilling lifestyle. On a more immediate level, the items that she wants to try this winter are chic coats and wide-leg pants.

Rachael’s comment
“This chic and classic tailored coat is a go-to item of my wardrobe. The coat is a warm, neutral color, so I styled it with a cardigan that’s a related color. Then, I went with white shoes to add a fresh feel. The coat’s clean look and the pants’ wide-leg silhouette form a great balance.”

Rachael’s comment
“It’s unique how this collarless coat enables many styling options. I like its modern silhouette. It’s also nice how its detachable hood enables different looks. To create this eye-catching styled look, I used a surprising color combination of blue and green.”

Rachael’s comment
“The greatest appeal of Ultra Light Down is its thinness, even though the item is also warm. I took advantage of this quality and layered a vest and jacket. Then, I added a thin, high-quality turtleneck sweater and a narrow skirt to complete the chic arrangement. I like the green and gray color combination as well.”
