About LifeWear magazine Issue 13

“Classic Doesn’t Get Old!”

Content creator Lara (@lara_bsmnn) puts it perfectly on My Standard. It sounds almost like a riddle, but it also has a clarity that opens up your eyes. What really, makes something a classic? That question is what propelled this entire issue.

UNIQLO works to create the ultimate in everyday clothing, what you might call “today’s basics.” To get there, forthright updates are essential. This could mean massive changes switching down packs from feathers to PUFFTECH, or making tiny tweaks to the fit or feel of standard items. It’s fair to say that almost none of our items go unchanged from one season to the next.

It’s no good for things to be too basic. But it’s also not enough for something to be simply new. The essential element that brings the two together is a classic feel. In a new shirt pattern, for instance, the fabric or the design will be rooted in a long-beloved style. A coat may have a light and soft material, but the look will be thoroughly authentic. In the twenty-three topics special feature “Revisiting Classic,” we take a closer look at a variety of UNIQLO items, centering our journey on the traditions and roots so important to the clothing we make. What defines the classics of today? LifeWear continues to evolve, keeping this question in mind.
