The UNIQLO Management Candidate (UMC) Program is a leadership pathway designed for individuals who aspire to run a business, lead people, and grow with one of the world’s leading global retailers.
At UNIQLO, the store is the beating heart of our business. Through the UMC program, you will gain immersive, hands-on experience in store operations, people's leadership, and business management preparing you to become a Store Manager and future business leader within UNIQLO Malaysia and beyond.
This is not a conventional graduate role. It is a fast paced, high ownership program designed for those who are motivated by challenge, driven by results, and eager to make an impact from day one. Relocation within Malaysia is part of the experience for initial placement and future development within the program.
Build the Mindset of a True Business Leader
As a future store and business leader, you will be involved in:
- Leading and developing diverse teams.
- Driving operational and commercial excellence.
- Understanding customer needs and local market trends.
- Translating insights into real business decisions and contributing directly to the growth of our business.
By starting your career in the store, you will build the foundation needed to think independently, act decisively, and succeed as a leader in a global organization.
The UMC Program offers structured, hands-on development, combining store immersion, people's leadership, and business ownership. While timelines may overlap depending on individual progress, the program focuses on three core phases:
You begin your journey on the sales floor, learning the fundamentals of UNIQLO’s operations and culture. You will master customer service, daily store execution, and operational discipline, building a strong understanding of how the business runs at ground level.
As your capabilities grow, you will take on greater responsibility in leading daily operations. This includes coordinating teams, training staff, driving sales performance, and taking ownership of a product area. This phase develops core people's management, communication, and decision-making skills.
In the later stage, you will support the Store Manager in managing the wider business from planning, performance analysis, staff development, and operational optimization. This is where you transition from team leader to business driver, people development and taking on business challenges. Learning remains continuous, driven by coaching, feedback, and leadership exposure on the sales floor.
