About LifeWear magazine Issue 05
Good neighbors deserve our recognition.
As we adjust to new lifestyles, it’s crucial that we underscore the value of local, friendly neighborhoods. We find comfort in our neighborhoods. This is where we live, love, and stroll. Where we browse our favorite shops, say hello to friends, and make new connections. This kind of an environment is essential to building a better tomorrow.
Our fifth issue was inspired by how neighborhoods can give us hope for the future. This time around, we’ll introduce the Barbican Estate, London’s classic residential complex, as well as Austin, Texas, one of the most livable cities in the US. What can these places tell us about the positive relationship between LifeWear and a comfortable environment? We also heard from internationally renowned architectural practice Herzog & de Meuron, who shared their thoughts on the nature of the city and what local means today.
Good cities always attract fascinating people. Connecting with a healthy community deepens and satisfies our life experience. That way, when we look out on the wider world, we’re sure to see plenty of new discoveries and dreams on the horizon.
The cover and illustration for this issue and below were created by Canadian artist Renée Gouin.
Drawing inspiration from Japanese woodcuts, her work depicts female beauty in a memorable, idiosyncratic style that blends painting and printmaking.
