On Tax-Free Shopping
Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) On Payments
Q.01Are back orders eligible for tax-free purchases?
If the total of the same-day purchases at the participating stores is 5,000 yen and above, they will be eligible for tax exemption.
Q.02If a total of 5,000 yen or above has been purchased at multiple participating UNIQLO stores, is it possible to combine those amounts to be eligible for the tax exemption?
No. This is due to the fact that applications are submitted by individual stores and not by the shopping establishment.
Q.03If the combined amount for general goods purchased from different tenants within the same facility/department is 5,000 yen and above, are those purchases eligible for tax exemption?
No. This is due to the fact that applications are submitted by individual stores and not by the shopping establishment.
Q.04Can cash, credit cards and gift cards be used for payment?
Yes. Purchases can be made using cash, credit cards and gift cards like with regular payments.
Q.05Can the tax exemption also be applied to product alteration fees?
The tax exemption cannot be applied to alteration fees since the tax exemption only applies to general goods. Alteration fees and gift wrapping fees are service fees and, therefore, are not eligible for tax exemption.
Q.06Can the same passport be used more than once for tax-free purchases?
Yes. Purchases are eligible for tax exemption as long as the purchase amount on a single receipt totals 5,000 yen or more. If the purchase conditions are met, please create the tax exemption vouchers according to the number of payments made.
