Unique clothing changes the rules. And changing the rules changes our lives.
Here’s another story of a masterpiece made by UNIQLO to this day.

We’re driven to make thin, light, warm innerwear. That’s what led to the creation of HEATTECH, a synthetic blend of rayon, acrylic, polyester, and polyurethane. Worn against the skin, it converts perspiration into heat and warms the body, making it the innerwear of choice for people all over the world. Now HEATTECH has a new lineup of products that continue to be thin, light, and warm, while exploring new terrain. Introducing HEATTECH Cashmere, which blends synthetic functionality with cashmere’s luxuriant softness. Responding to demand for HEATTECH using natural materials, we developed a synthetic blend that includes natural textiles in such a way as to account for an irregularity in fiber thickness and length, thus ensuring a consistent quality.
HEATTECH Cashmere brings this dream to life, offering unprecedented lightness and warmth. Considering the strengths of natural fibers and synthetics, we arrived at a blend that uses about 9% cashmere. This percentage ensures optimal texture and functionality.
How cashmere is transforming the sensation of HEATTECH?
Rayon absorbs moisture and generates heat, acrylic creates more heat, and polyurethane provides flexibility, while cashmere retains heat and absorbs moisture. Countless air pockets created by the cashmere blend contain the heated air, warming the body.

The polyester in regular HEATTECH is replaced with cashmere and blended with acrylic, rayon and polyurethane. To achieve optimal texture and warmth, the blend uses about 9% cashmere.
Compared to regular HEATTECH, the new HEATTECH Cashmere is 1.5 times warmer. Air pockets formed between ultrafine acrylic fibers help to retain air warmed by the moisture-absorbing, heat-generating rayon. Cashmere has a natural tendency to curl, making for a soft and fluffy weave. Adding acrylic to the blend results in an abundance of new air pockets. By retaining more warm air, the material exhibits superior warmth. Meanwhile, the fluffy weave is smooth and gentle to the touch, striking a perfect balance between substantial and airy. Using too much cashmere would make the texture scratchy, detracting from comfort. To create a light, warm, comfortable piece of innerwear, we use ultrafine cashmere thread. Along with adjusting the percentage, we also ventured to select the best materials, opting for top-quality cashmere from goats pastured mainly in Inner Mongolia, due to the high transparency and traceability of the wool.
The HEATTECH Cashmere collection from Clare Waight Keller and Uniqlo : C comes in a wide range of exquisite colors. One of the biggest challenges of cashmere blends is fine-tuning the color presentation. Acrylic, rayon, and cashmere all require different kinds of dyeing, thus different treatments and dyes. The irregularity of natural fibers introduces yet more variation, making it hard to achieve uniform tones. Attaining the intermediate colors of this collection meant repeated testing for each of the materials. Fabrics are knit at facilities in northern China. To maintain fluffiness, it’s crucial to take time and assemble the knits slowly. Using specially tuned machinery for the dyeing, drying, and inspection steps helps to keep damage to the delicate cashmere to an absolute minimum. AI is also being used to automate parts of the process, so that fabric imperfections can be spotted automatically. Meanwhile, imperfections in the natural fibers are individually addressed by personnel. Delicately crafted, this new form of HEATTECH is incredibly soft to the touch.

How to Wash Delicate Natural Fabrics?
There’s a sense that cashmere is hard to care for. HEATTECH Cashmere, however, can be machine washed. We recommend using a net to prevent stretching. Air drying in the shade helps to prevent fading and restore the fabric’s fluff.

Wear the Right Size for Extra Warmth
HEATTECH Cashmere works best when you wear the proper size. By contacting the skin, it can do its job absorbing perspiration, allowing you to feel the warmth more readily. The smooth and soft material gently envelopes the body.

Layering for Extra Warmth
The light colors of HEATTECH Cashmere have a sheer quality that shows skin through the weave. Why not try wearing two? Layer a crewneck and a turtleneck and combine colors in a variety of styles.
Thinner, Lighter*, and More Flexible than Ever Before.
Superbly stretchy, HEATTECH Cashmere conforms to the body. Cashmere’s signature sheen adds a luxe quality not seen in other HEATTECH products. Here’s an overview of all collections, featuring standard silhouettes in a variety of colors.
