Softness that only babies will notice.
As babies are sensitive to irritation and sweat a lot, we developed our own unique 100% cotton circular rib fabric* with their comfort in mind. The lining, which directly touches the skin, is made of "woolly yarn*", a fluffy yarn that causes very little friction. In addition, the seam allowance is flat-seamed, so that the fabric has a minimum protuberance against the skin. Although difficult to perceive for an adult's hands, it's an ingenious idea that takes a baby's delicate skin into consideration. Of course, this all comes with no compromise in durability.
*Cotton circular rib fabric and woolly yarn are features of the bodysuit, not of the cotton mesh bodysuit.
Perfect details for everyone in the family.
Thinking about how delicate babies' skin is, we've used plastic snap buttons instead of metal ones. Only the middle of the three is yellow, to prevent doing them up wrong. UNIQLO has also adjusted the holding-power of the buttons in-house, to make it easy to put the garment on and take it off, but hard for the buttons to come undone. And that's not the only novel family-friendly feature we've added. To prevent the garment from being put on inside out, the stitching on the lining is colored. The long sleeves have been designed so that the fabric stretches when the baby's hands go in them.
A breathable fabric for the little ones.
In the summer heat, babies who perspire a lot may need to change clothes multiple times a day. That's where our 100% cotton mesh fabric comes in, perfect for those daily changes. It offers excellent breathability and effectively absorbs sweat in a way that only mesh can. Using fine-count two-ply yarn also achieves both a soft feel against the skin and high durability. An additional feature is the cotton circular rib fabric at the collar, armhole, and crotch that helps prevent wrinkling.

The care starts with the environment in the factory.
UNIQLO's bodysuits are made in a special environment designed with babies' safety foremost in mind. In order to reduce the causes of skin irritation, we set up an formaldehyde-free environment in the factory starting three months beforehand. In addition, air inspections are constantly performed, and when the clothes are due to be shipped out, they have their pH values measured, get rigorously tested for impurities, and are immediately bagged up to avoid contact with the air outside. All the people who make them aim as one to ensure true peace of mind right up until the products reach the customers' hands.

UNIQLO’s baby bodysuits are designed with safety as the top priority, starting with a specially controlled production environment. To ensure a formaldehyde-free state and reduce allergy risks, preparations begin three months before production starts. Every detail—from dyeing machines and looms to the air inside the factory—is thoroughly inspected. Before shipping, each item undergoes strict quality checks to confirm that no harmful substances are present. Only products that meet these rigorous standards make it to store shelves. Because it’s a baby’s very “First LifeWear,” every step is guided by the belief in “Baby First.” Everyone involved in the process works together to deliver true peace of mind to our customers.
