The Heart of LifeWear Vol.8: spreading warmth and hope in Moldova and reaching 100 000 clothing donations in Europe
May 05, 2025
Heart of LifeWear
With Moldova currently hosting the highest number of Ukrainian refugees per capita worldwide—constituting approximately 5% of its population—there is an urgent need for aid. Recognising this, UNIQLO delivered 15,000 HEATTECH items to bring essential warmth and comfort to refugees and local families facing challenging circumstances.
Throughout the three-day mission, the UNIQLO team engaged directly with local communities by visiting a warehouse for clothing distribution, a local school, a children's centre, individual families, and an orphanage. These visits included heartwarming interactions, such as origami workshops where team members and children created paper hearts together, symbolising hope and solidarity.
Reflecting on the visit, Van Ivancev, Country Director for Moldova and Ukraine at Hope4, remarked:
'UNIQLO’s visit to Moldova through "The Heart of LifeWear", a global initiative that protects people in need, has profoundly impacted local communities across Moldova. For the first time ever, families and refugees have received high-quality HEATTECH clothing, providing warmth, comfort, and a renewed sense of hope. Our partnership with UNIQLO is more than just distributing clothes—it’s about showing people they are seen, valued, and supported. We are incredibly grateful for UNIQLO’s commitment to standing with us and helping us make a real difference in people’s lives.'
The initiative underscores UNIQLO’s ongoing mission of humanitarian support, reaffirming the brand's belief in the transformative power of LifeWear to enhance lives, restore dignity, and instill lasting hope within vulnerable communities.
This clothing donation is part of the “What Makes Life Better?” initiative.
