THREE WAYS TO DRY YOUR CLOTHING

Once you've washed your clothing, it might seem like the rest of the process is quite self-explanatory. However, there are many ways of drying your laundry and not all methods are created equally.

We're exploring the most common methods of drying your clothing and the benefits or drawbacks of each:

1. FLAT DRYING


Always dry your knits lying on a flat surface. Gently squeeze out as much water as possible. Place your garment on a towel, roll the towel and carefully press out excessive water. Lay your garment flat on the towel to dry if you don’t have a drying rack. When you dry on a rack, use a towel as a base – this prevents creases. Don’t forget to flip the garment once in a while.

2. AIR DRYING


Most garments will last longer and keep their shape if you let them slowly dry on a drying rack or on a hanger. Make sure to straighten hems and creases as much as possible - this will save you time for when you want to steam the dry clothes.

3. TUMBLE DRYING


Tumble drying is not just bad from an energy consumption perspective. The tumble dryer will also shrink your clothes and destroy the fibres. We honestly don’t recommend that you tumble dry anything other than bed linen and towels – and if you do – please use tumble dryer balls to shorten the drying time and remove static electricity.
