Marimekko is a Finnish design house that has been celebrated for its original prints and use of colour since it was established in 1951. Sharing their mission to bring joy to people’s everyday lives, UNIQLO has partnered with Marimekko on a new collection of LifeWear. This unique collaboration marries simplicity with creativity and features timeless silhouettes in bold and vibrant Marimekko designs.

UNIQLO x Marimekko's New Year 2024 collection offers head-to-toe warmth with soft fleeces and functional HEATTECH featuring Marimekko's world-renowned prints: Kivet (stones), Kissapöllö (tawny owl), and Seireeni (siren) by Maija Isola, along with Hattara (wisp) by Pentti Rinta. Each pattern, inspired by Nordic nature, echoes a serene winter landscape in pearl grays, muted gold, and timeless black. The perfect pieces to enjoy both inside and outside for a vibrant winter.

Print designer biographies

Marimekko’s nature-inspired prints were designed by iconic designers Maija Isola and Pentti Rinta.

Maija Isola

Maija Isola's (1927–2001) career as a fabric designer began in 1949. During her time at Marimekko, she designed more than 500 patterns for the design house. Maija Isola laid the foundation for Marimekko as a print house with her joyful and abstract designs.

Pentti Rinta

Pentti Rinta joined Marimekko in 1969 as a fashion designer. He remained with the company until 1987, also designing bold and colourful Marimekko prints. In the 1970s, Pentti’s Marimekko pieces appeared on the pages of fashion publications and magazines around the world.
