Product stories
Gorgeous colours born from fine yarn.
Extra fine Merino wool, with its incredibly thin fibres, has a shiny surface and produces vivid colours. To create consistently beautiful colours we dye the wool when it's raw, instead of after it has been spun into yarn.
100% easycare, 100% wool.
Wool can require extra care, but we've worked out several ways to overcome that. With a special non-shrink treatment, this jumper is machine washable but retains the elegant feel of wool. We also apply a treatment to suppress pilling and twisting to produce a 100% wool jumper that will look great for a long time.
Enhancing the fine colour and lustre.
The extremely thin fibres of Extra Fine Merino (about 19.5 microns or less) provide expressive colour and a refined lustre. To make the most of these characteristics, the raw fibres are dyed before being spun into yarn. Wool that has been dyed evenly over time is eventually transformed into beautiful yarns through a process called “combing” (passing the wool fibres through combs to make them uniform). The knitting is done by machine, but the linking process to connect the parts is done by hand by skilled craftspersons. Further processing to make the knitwear machine-washable adds to their beauty and makes it easy to care for them. The many processing steps reflect a commitment to high-quality knitwear for everyday comfort.
Roger Federer's favourite year-round jumper.
Our Merino jumper is UNIQLO Global Brand Ambassador Roger Federer's favourite for many reasons. It keeps him warm from autumn to spring, and is perfect for taking on evening walks in the summer. This lightweight, wrinkle-resistant, and machine-washable knit is ideal for his travels around the world. "I used to dress it up with a collared shirt underneath, but lately I've been wearing it with a T-shirt and jeans for a casual look, or under an evening jacket with dress pants." he says.
Product stories
Still beautiful, wash after wash.
Natural materials can be tough to care for. That's why we're updating the conventional wisdom. We've given the wool special nonshrink and anti-pilling treatments while retaining the delicate texture. We tested this jumper*, and you can see the result in the photo. There's no noticeable pilling or fuzz. It looks so good, you can hardly tell which one has been washed 15 times.
*Tested at Kaken Test Center using a Type C (pulsator) washing machine following the JIS L1930 testing method, before being ironed.
