Selvedge Stretch Slim Fit Jeans

Stretchable fabric woven with an old-fashioned loom.
This stretch denim is made with an old-style shuttle that's about 40 years old. It was originally made for weaving cotton yarn, so making stretch denim with it is not easy. We worked with skilled artisans at venerable denim maker Kaihara to implement unique modifications to the loom to create an innovative fabric that has stretch with an authentic texture. These are truly modern selvedge jeans.

The red ear, the sign of authentic denim.
The "red ear" is a sign of denim woven with an old-fashioned shuttle. Production may not be as efficient as with the latest looms, but the retro tool produces a warmth and strength that feels authentic. The resulting woven fabric has elasticity and firmness that is wonderfully balanced with the characteristic texture of denim. It's a combination you won't find anywhere else.

Rope dyeing.
Rope dyeing is a technique that turns denim yarn a deep indigo on the outside while leaving the inside fairly white. By using this method, the undyed white part gradually becomes more visible as the dye on the surface fades with wear and washing. As time passes, the denim turns a vintage pale blue. It's a transition you can enjoy over the years.
