Cashmere, with its warmth and beauty, is called the "jewel of fibers." The cashmere used by UNIQLO is sourced from some of the world's leading producers. The wool of cashmere goats, which grow in harsh natural environments with varying summer and winter temperatures, is long, fine, very flexible, and gives off a beautiful luster. Working hand in hand with local partners, we use only 100% of the highest quality material that meets strict standards and deliver it to the world. To you.
Each colour has an intent of its own.
Cashmere is dyed from its pre-spun state so that it has a uniform beauty no matter which colour you pick up around the world. While carefully checking the condition of the raw wool, we also finely adjust the dyeing method. The colour variations are made up of colours that give off the soft feel of cashmere. Even just the white gives a creamy, natural-looking impression. For the heather colour, which is a mixture of multiple colours, we chose a combination that creates depth between the hues. The final colour matching is done by skilled craftsmen.
The purity of cashmere, improved with human eyes and hands.
Cashmere is a natural fiber. Even in the world's leading production areas, there are individual differences in the quality of raw wool. For that reason, what we rely on are our human eyes and hands. We conduct multiple inspections to ensure that material meets our personal strict standards. We thoroughly remove impurities to improve warmth. During the manufacturing process, minute adjustments are made in areas such as the knitting speed and density while carefully assessing the quality of the raw wool. Finally, our skilled inspectors check each piece one by one. All of this was in order to deliver cashmere in which we can be confident of its finest quality.
Cashmere that can truly be hand-washed.
Care that can be done at home—this is what makes items everyday wear for the majority of people. This is also a quality that UNIQLO considers. We've made cashmere, a natural material, into one that can be hand-washed at any time. The key lies in our special treatment techniques at the molecular level. By adjusting the processing temperature and time through trial and error, we were able to prevent pilling and make it possible to hand-wash the material at home. The soft texture of the cashmere remains unchanged; the only thing that has changed is the ease of care.
Serving high-quality ingredients in high-quality cashmere.
Missy Flynn runs the bustling American-style diner “RITA’S” in London’s Soho district. Her regular work outfit is a black Cashmere Crewneck Sweater from UNIQLO. “Like ingredients from the best suppliers, wearing high-quality natural fibers is important for the atmosphere of the restaurant,” she says of why she loves it. Among the new colours in the Fall/Winter 2024 collection, purple seems to be her favorite.
