Product stories
Attention to detail, down to the millimetre.
UNIQLO dress shirts come in three collar types: regular, semi-wide, and button-down. Each collar type has been carefully designed down to the minute details such as cuff size, pocket shape, and front placket. The body and armholes have been designed to prevent the fabric from bulging when the jacket is worn, and the breast pocket is big enough to hold an ID card or passport. The buttons are staggered, and stitched only on one side, making it easy to open and close even with one hand.
Effortless and beautiful.
To make your shirt effortlessly easy to maintain, you can put it in your dryer straight from the washing machine, thanks to a shape-stabilising finish*.
*Light ironing may be needed depending on washing conditions.
A good shirt starts with good cotton.
The "ultra-long cotton" we use for our shirts has a fibre length of 35 mm or more. This high quality cotton has a smooth feel and pleasing lustre. At our factory, impurities are carefully removed from the bales of extra-long staple cotton, and then the fibres are twisted many times to create beautiful yarn.
It takes time and effort to make an easycare shirt.
Making Super Non-Iron Shirts starts with sewing a tape-like resin into the seams to prevent wrinkles after washing. After the shirt is sewn, "DIP processing" is carried out, which involves spraying the entire shirt with a special substance that prevents wrinkles. The shirt then undergoes a high-pressure press to enhance form stability, a "baking process" to ensure full adherence of the chemicals, and is then ironed by skilled professionals for the final finish.
