How to Care for Down Garments Washing Ultra Light Down

STEP 1 Read the care label

STEP 1 Read the care label
Always check the care label first. If there is a hand-wash symbol, be sure to wash the garment by hand.

STEP 2 Prepare soapy water

STEP 2 Prepare soapy water
Fill a basin or sink with water and add the recommended amount of neutral detergent. Use lukewarm water (up to 40°C) if the collar or other areas are noticeably dirty.

STEP 3 Pre-treat stains

STEP 3 Pre-treat stains
Before soaking, pre-treat any spots. Use a sponge to work up the neutral detergent into a lather, and gently blot without rubbing to avoid damaging the fabric.
Note: Some stains, depending on their type and how long they have been set, may not be completely removed. For stubborn stains, consult a professional dry cleaner.

STEP 4 Gently press wash

STEP 4 Gently press wash
Gently fold the garment with the collar and cuffs on top, then immerse it in the soapy water and gently press 20 to 30 times, taking care not to crush the down.

POINT

Tip: Press straight down to prevent the filling from shifting.

STEP 5 Rinse

STEP 5 Rinse
Drain the soapy water, then gently press the garment to remove excess water without crushing the filling and rinse in clean water.

POINT

Tip: Do not wring the garment, as this can damage the down and fabric.
Rinse the garment repeatedly in clean water. Change the water frequently, until no suds remain. This prevents any residual detergent from staining or altering the fabric’s texture.

STEP 6 Remove excess water

STEP 6 Remove excess water
After draining, wrap and gently press the garment in a bath towel to absorb moisture.

STEP 7 Air-dry in a shaded area

STEP 7 Air-dry in a shaded area
Place the garment on a sturdy hanger to maintain its shape, and dry it in a well-ventilated, shaded area.
Note: Poor ventilation can cause musty odors and mildew growth.

STEP 8 Fluff and reshape

STEP 8 Fluff and reshape
Before the garment is completely dry, gently reshape it by hand and even out any clumps of down.

STEP 9 Hang in the shade again

Place the garment on the hanger again and allow it to finish drying in a well-ventilated, shaded area.

If the garment has been exposed to rain

If the garment has been exposed to rain
Pat off moisture with a towel and allow the garment to air-dry in a shaded area.

If feathers poke through

If feathers poke through
Do not pull feathers out, as this can widen the hole. Gently push them back into the garment from the inside.

To restore loft

To restore loft
Gently shake the garment while holding both ends to let in air. Washing can also help restore fluffiness.

If the care label says “Do Not Wash at Home”

Do not wash the garment at home. Take it to a dry cleaning shop experienced in handling down products. Our Seamless Down and Hybrid Down garments can be wet-cleaned using certain cleaners, so ask your local dry cleaner if they offer water-based cleaning for down.

Storage

While in use:

Store the garment on a hanger in a dry area. Avoid stacking to prevent crushing the down. If it has been dampened by rain or sweat, dry it completely before storing. If the down shifts while wet, dry it thoroughly, then gently pat the surface to redistribute the down and restore loft. If a distinctive down odor develops, air out the garment in the shade.

For long-term storage:

Place the garment on a hanger, cover it with a breathable garment bag, and store it in a cool, dry, dark place with moth repellent. If possible, air it out in the shade once or twice during the summer.
