One inspiration for this season’s collection was weekend getaways to Upstate New York. One of the area’s iconic towns is Woodstock, about three hours north of Manhattan by car. The main drag, Tinker Street, has a series of low-slung retro buildings. Among them is an adorable bookshop, a guitar store, and a meatball restaurant that sends a fine aroma out into the street. At lunch hour, the family-owned pizzeria fills with local workers and tourists who chomp away on massive slices. Buoyed by its local independent businesses, this classic town is brimming with activity.It’s small enough that you can see the central area in the space of an hour. Only a short distance away, the Catskills spread off into the distance, a tranquil world contrasting with the town’s activities. Travel along one of the seemingly endless roads, and you’ll arrive at an authentic diner like something out of a movie. Here’s a bit of Woodstock trivia: The famous 1969 rock festival, while initially connected to the town, ran into venue complications and was actually held in the town of Bethel in neighboring Sullivan County.
