UNIQLO LAUNCHES MENSWEAR PREMIUM DENIM COLLECTION

With an emphasis on contemporary design and high quality, UNIQLO have taken their denim collections one step further by collaborating with celebrated denim craftsman Kaihara to create a new Japanese Premium Denim menswear jeans collection, launching in spring 2009.

A hundred years ago, Kaihara specialised in traditional Japanese kimono indigo dying and over the years became renowned master craftsman. Recognising the growing popularity of denim, in 1970 Kaihara diversified into denim production in the most autonomous way; by producing everything from the yarn, through to the weaving of the fabric and the finished product. As a result of their unrivalled quality control, the company have since become the largest and most trusted denim producer in the world, manufacturing what some consider as the highest quality denim in the world.

Following this successful approach, the UNIQLO Japanese Premium Denim collection not only harks back to the brand’s heritage and boasts 100% production within Japan, but also features the unique detailing of Selvedge denim jeans made using traditional antique looms, adding to the integrity and heritage of this inimitable product.

UNIQLO’s Japanese Premium Denim menswear collection provides the ultimate capsule wardrobe denim for spring 2009. Stitched by skilled workers using carefully selected raw cotton to achieve a lived-in look, the pre-washed fabric enhances the absorption of colour and lends a clean line to the cut of the jeans. Available in two fits; Slim Fit Jeans, available in blue, black and indigo, and Regular Fit Jeans, available in two washes; black and indigo, both are priced competitively at £49.99.

Complemented by key pieces in the new menswear tailoring range and an explosion of colour in the UNIQLO casualwear collections, the UNIQLO Japanese Premium Denim collection provides high quality jeans that will be available from early-March in the new UNIQLO menswear concession, opening 23 February in Selfridges, London.
