UNIQLO to Launch Volume 2 of the KAWS x SESAME STREET UT Collection

Second Installment from the Prominent Artist Includes Plush Toys of Iconic Characters from the Internationally Beloved Brand

UNIQLO’s graphic T-shirt brand UT will launch the second installment of the KAWS x SESAME STREET collection, its collaboration with the New York-based artist KAWS and the internationally beloved brand Sesame Street. The collection will be available from Friday, November 23 at all stores and online at UNIQLO.com.

The first installment, launched in June 2018, was extremely popular worldwide. The second installment in this collection includes KAWS’s interpretation of five main characters—Elmo, Cookie Monster, Big Bird, Bert, and Ernie—as plush toys. A complete set of all five characters in a special box will also be available in limited quantities. Along with T-shirts, the men’s, women’s, and kids’ lineups will also include sweatshirts.

KAWS continues to delight people around the world with works exhibiting a sophisticated humour. This collection, only possible through UT, allows people to enjoy wearing, holding, and displaying Elmo and other familiar characters as imagined through KAWS’s unique worldview.

About KAWS

KAWS engages with audiences beyond regular exhibits in museums and galleries. His work has influenced younger generations by straddling the worlds of art and design, including paintings, murals, large-scale sculptures, street art, and graphic and product design. Over the last two decades KAWS has built a brilliant career as an artist with work exhibiting a sophisticated humour and thoughtful interplay with consumer products, as well as collaborations with global brands. He often draws inspiration from pop-culture anime and similar sources, incorporating them as artistic elements in his works. Admired for his larger-than-life sculptures and hard-edge paintings accentuating line and colour, KAWS creates hybrid characters combining comic and human traits, which are perhaps the strongest expression of his exploration of humanity. Works by KAWS have been exhibited at such venues as the High Museum, Brooklyn Museum, Yorkshire Sculpture Park in England, and the Modern Art Museum of Fort Worth, and Yuz Museum in Shanghai. His collaborations with UNIQLO for the UT lines in spring/summer 2016 and 2017 were major international hits.
