UNIQLO Casts Local Celebs for FW 2011 Campaign

UNIQLO Goes ‘Local’ Globally and Casts Local Celebrities
from each UNIQLO market for their FW 2011 Campaign

True to its brand philosophy UNIQLO embarks on a new endeavour to communicate its Made for All message across the globe. For its Fall Winter 2011 campaign, Japan’s No.1 Casual Wear Brand, goes local globally and appoints local celebrities and personalities to appear in campaigns for all the countries where UNIQLO is.

After engaging Orlando Bloom and Charlize Theron as its brand ambassadors to share the new slogan last year, UNIQLO extends its belief of providing quality clothing that is accessible to everyone even further. By bringing on board well-known local figures that have a direct appeal to each country’s demographic UNIQLO can draw the public and impart its philosophy to them even more.

Countries with local celebrity casting are Japan, Korea, USA, UK, China, France and Taiwan. Such celebrities include actress Meisa Kuroki and actor Kengo Koura for Japan as well as actor Berlin Chen and actress Ivy Chen for Taiwan.

For the Singapore market, MediaCorp artistes Pierre Png and Rebecca Lim were chosen. The two will be appearing in various print ads showcasing key UNIQLO items for Fall Winter this year— Merino Wool, Heattech and Ultra Light Down— set to start on the later part of September.

According to Satoshi Onoguchi, Managing Director of UNIQLO Singapore, “Both celebrities were chosen because they appeal to a wide range of audience and transcend demography. Being talented artistes with the ability to portray diverse roles and have other versatile talents and pursuits, we feel that they are a fit with UNIQLO’s Made for All ideal and can truly help share this unique philosophy with everyone else”
